Arin thinks brakes are the good idea, unless it is for some reason imperative that you replace the shocks and struts, since they's hecksa oldddd

Do the brakes, and then the shocks/struts later on. Mine are still stock on the notch.

its always weird driving petes car after having driven mine there. I make fun of him by bragging about COBRA BRAKES but its a serious issue

those brakes are garbage and are seriously inadequate

I wouldn't necessarily worry about brakes until you have more power to stop...

The single piston brakes that are on the 94-98s are horrible as far as modern brakes are concerned. I know it isn't a "necessity," but it would be really nice to be able to stop, and it would be good to have the brakes already upgraded before I add more power so I won't have to worry about it later.

Compared to my Mazda's brakes, the Mustang's brakes are practically useless. And my Protege has the smallest front rotors of that model line. I brake earlier on the Mustang than on the Mazda, and I won't talk about the handling bec. the gap between them is even larger.

The S197's seem so be much more defined than the SN95's. The brakes were very good when I drove one.

I agree with that too David. My friend's 05 V6 braked a ton better than my 94, and my 94 brakes better than my friend's other Mustang, a 90 GT vert. I still wonder why Ford waited so long to put decent brakes on these cars. Btw, I still haven't driven a new edge SN95, but I guess they are much better than the 94-98.

I drove an S197 V6 a few weeks ago, and it handled superbly compared to my bullitt. Thats one of the biggest reasons I want to improve it. the brakes were by far better than the first gen SNs though.

Have you driven any SN95s David?

I can vouch for 2004 V6 brakes, they're good enough

I've almost definitively decided on the brakes. The shocks and struts are too much for too little.

My whips will do 23 miles per hour at least. And they each have something resembling a paint job
