Motor wont seat

I can't get my motor to come all the way together with my transmission . The top will bolt up , but the bottom has about a half inch to go...the dowel pins are lined up and the motor turns the trans, but will not scoot enough to grab a thread... Any suggestions? Thanks everyone

Did you use the alignment tool to make sure that the clutch is in the correct position? I could imagine your input shaft making it through the clutch, but not being aligned with the pilot bearing, and therefore not letting the tranny go flush. Just a theory.

It's a 5 SPd 95 gt. I went to town and got the lil clutch alignment tool and I still couldn't get it to wiggle on there. Said screw it and pulled the trans and the motor. I think the clutch may have to be depressed like you mentioned. Thanks for the help. I'll check back tomorrow

You loosened all the clutch bolts then installed the line up tool and then tightened all the clutch bolts back up?? Did you replaced the pilot bearing at all when you did the rebuild?

Got it big wiggly style... It needed more of a push than I could get with it in the car

Now to get the tranny and motor in as one. I hope I remember where the harness plugs in.
