Leaking rear diff.

Hey all
I just noticed some spots on my garage floor right under where my diff is so i went under to check it out. After cleanin up the diff a bit i noticed some drops of fluid hangin on to the bottom side near the diff cover meets the rest of the part. Car has about 33,000 miles on her so im thinkin maybe the seal is just strtin to crack. Anyone else have this problem? If so would a new diff cover solve the issue or do i need something else?

Just take the cover off, put a bead of silicone around the cover and put it back on. The fluid will drain so make sure you have a bucket and a way to pump it back in the hole to fill it. Takes a half hour

Well heres the deal, went back under couple minutes ago and propped her up on a jack (no lift) so i could get in further and turns out the diff is cracked on the main body. Its pretty long and i dont want things to get any worse. Takin her in tomorro and getting a new diff ordered

The cover is cracked or the rear end itself is? Like they said above putting a new gasket an fluid in your rear different is a half an hour job. If the cover is cracked that's no biggie one from the junkyard would be cheaper an just as good. You could even paint it. But if its the housing I'm not sure. They could probably weld it but to do iT right would be pricey ie changing out the whole rear end shell I imagine. If you could put up a pic I could tell you more.

Id have to post a pic in the morning to get some better light. And it looks like a xrack on the housing itself. The seal is messed uo a bit too but the crack is where the fuilds comin from

Coming from where the housing an cover meet up? Is iT from a bolt being over tightened or is it between two bolts

Coming from where the housing and cover meet up and from the crack. Tightening the bolts helps stop fuild comin from there but theres still some leaks from the crack. Its along the edge of the housing right where it bends to meet with the cover. That littlt lip is where the crack is
