About the middle of the car just in front of the gas tank. Is attached to trunk floor.

Nope. theres a special tool you have to get. You can get it at NAPA and Advance. Its like $7 and it comes with a pack of different sizes. But you can't get it off without them.

Maybe the 94-95 ones are different, but if I remember correctly mine just had a pin on each side that was easily removable by just pulling on it. Put the new on in place and just clipped it back together.

Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons manual yet? That will help a lot with figuring out what you need for this type of project.

Yep they are different. I thought that the first time I changed mine. Pull the pins and take it out. Needless to say, I went that path for about an hour before I went and got the tool, then it took 10 min.

I dont. Even if I was I would still rather work on my car. To many bad experiences.

I'm glad I saw this thread! Some good information here that I wasn't aware of. I've got a 96 Cobra that I plan on changing the fuel filter on soon.

I think it's "suggested" every 5,000 miles, so it is definitely a good thing to know.

Actually it is "suggested" every 30,000 in the 2001 book.

I wasn't particularly worried about it, but I could have sworn that someone on here told me it was 5,000. 30,000 is much more believable.

the dealer I work at does it as part of the 15k services for all Ford vehicles under the QCM extended warranty. So every 3rd oil change. Be thankful the Mustang isn't a diesel, they have 2 fuel filters that need sooner changes. Not to mention they take 15 quarts of oil
