Big Dave's Sonic Blue Mustang Thread
You may want to part the car out, you may be surprised how much money you can make from what is salvageable. That being said, that sucks about the car important thing is your safe.

I might have to rename her "Frankenstein"
So since the Valentine's Day Massacre, I've been carless. After lots of dealings with the lady's insurance, they didnt want to pay for it to be fixed, nor did they want to pay enough for me to get something as a suitable replacement.
So the choices were either: settle for something (which after 6 months of searching in the first place, wasn't going to happen), or have the car fixed, with a salvage title. After a number of coversations with a close family friend that used to work at the shop, he assured me that they can fix it right. They also have a warranty on all work they do. Apparently my dad knows the owner as well, and he said that they'll do everything to make sure it's right, or they'll fix it again.
So, I figured, what the hell? I'll take a chance, Columbus did...course, he is dead now.
Essentially, they took the hood and fenders off to see if the frame could be fixed. When they decided that wasn't going to work, they ordered the front end of a donor car (literally cut up from the dash forward, lol!) to be placed on my car. They cut off the damaged frame (from the spring towers forward) to be replaced by the new frame. Suprisingly enough, the car had apparently been in a prior accdent before - fixed perfectly though - but they saw some welding and the passenger side door had bondo on it!
After welding the new frame on, it was off for fenders and hood, electrical harness replacement, radiator, etc. He painted it all up and got it ready for paint. The one thing that irritates me is that they were supposed to call me before it got painted, so I could decide to have the whole thing painted. They didnt call me, but the owner extended an offer to me to in the future have the entire car painted for what the price would have been to have the back half painted.
Without further ado, some pics:

It's kind of amazing that they can just replace that much of a car to make it like new again. Congrats on the car being fixed man. Glad to see you back in a Mustang.

so now that the car's back, I can start working on things I've needed to anyway.
Today i tried changing the plugs. What a PITA. Nevermind the fact that the so-called hardware stores here dont have 5/8 spark plug sockets, but Ford's engineers decided to put a fuel line directly over the 3rd spark plug on the passenger side.

I'm not entirely sure how to get to it, and I dont want to take the fuel line off, though I may have to.
