Arin has magnificent news today. As some of you know, my car has been making unholy noise from the front end for the last few months (and then some). I tried replacing just about everything in my quest to eliminate the aural abominations and have had my front end apart who knows how many times. I finally caved in and took it to a shop last week and everything is fixed
The car is just as quiet as I remember it being when I got it now. Turns out the brake pad retainers had fallen off at some point and all that noise was the pads shifting back and forth when I used the brake or momentum switched direction on them.
As an added bonus I had them look into my turn signal issue, and even though they said they couldn't fix it, somehow, they work again.
Not that I'm complaining.. I did see that two of the bulbs on one tailight have burned out though. They said it may have been bec of my spliced in sequential kit. anyone have any issues with those aside from me?
But wait, theres more! I know Peter has been talking
about it for a while, but I've lately been fantasizing about finding an old fairmont someday and putting modern things in it. It was a pipe dream at best, but my friend Dan decided to fuel that fire this week. We had to go on a booze run yesterday, and I got to drive his 1987 Lincoln Continental. Their family was given it by a relative who could no longer drive and its only got 23k on it
The whole dash is digital and and it has some pretty excellent and advanced (for the timme) features I didn't even know existed back then. So maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday there will be a fox platform wagon parked in my driveway
also, some pics of its glorious brown paint

Went out to Infineon Raceway today to get some runs in. Still can't hit what I want to hit, but its getting there. Most of my launches were all pretty rough. On my 14.8/14.5 there was wheelspin all the way into second, in the 15 it lasted almost until my 2-3 shift. Best of the night was a 14.29 but hopefully next week will yield better results
Otherwise, just lots of cool cars and delicious smells.

I wish my times could be justified by stockness, but alas, this is not the case. Powerwise, I only have my JLT CAI and a 91 race tune from Bama.
Otherwise I have a triax, KW V3 coilovers (set to full soft everywhere), Steeda front sway bar/CC plates/balljoints/bumpsteer/rear shock tower brace, terminator A arms, rear seat delete and corbeau CR1s and staggered wheels and tires. The rears are some kind of 275 that I got with the wheels.
after my traction issues of the day, I think better rubber is in order. I also have a steeda adjustable rear bar I need to install. IIRC one of the adjustment settings is for launching/drag racing, so I'll definitely be trying it out.
I just want to break into the 13s lol
Also my best time was with a "launch" at 2Kish. Over the course of the night I tried as high as 2800, but started to lower it again when I realized I was having such a hard time stopping my wheelspin. I also think I could have slipped the clutch a bit more, but either cowardice, panic or lead foot syndrome always led me to dump it rather quickly. I think if I focused on slipping it and not just letting her rip I could drop the ET by a bit. At least on the whole my actions and results all made sense to me, so I could see a little of where I was causing myself to lose traction. Unfortunately theres only two more days this season to practice up there, but I'm gonna try and make em.

why does your track suck?
I'm always afraid of n2o because I know I'd abuse it
but thats just me
I'm headed up to Sonoma again today, lets hope I can get that 60' down.

so mild disappointment with my runs today. Best of only 14.33 at 98.9. Looks like the dead weight stole a percentage from both my ET and mph, but oh well. I got more runs in today than ever before (5) and had a blast. Loaned my spare helmet to an older gentleman in a Chevelle. Lucky for me we both redlighted at the same round, so I didn't have to wait around, but overall another awesome day
also noticed that its getting a little tough to get it into 2nd at full throttle. Also, even when I didnt burn much in 1st, I routinely broke traction again on the 1-2 shift.
And to everyone else with a 2v... whats a good rpm to shift at? I was running it right up to 6k when I shifted. I really should dyno sometime and find out where my power starts to drop off.
Now... time to find some drag radials...
