Has anyone else had a problem with aftermarket window tint scratching along the bottom of either the passenger or driver side window? My window tint guy (who I've trusted over the past 15 years to tint all my car windows) says the mustang has a very stiff inner window seal (no felt) that is causing my problem... This was the first 05/06 Mustang he has tinted... He is willing to replace the tint on the side windows at no charge to me, but says unless something can be done about the inner seal, it will just continue to scratch.... He is not going to tint any other 05/06 mustangs until he hears back from me... Any suggestions?

Do a search. This topic has been covered many, many times. Search for "Mole Skin" and you will probably find a lot of threads covering this subject and what fixes the problem.

I have been having the same problem with both of my windows getting scratched up. They aren't that bad right now but they are going to get bad, i no it. I wish i could do something to stop it because i have dark tint on my windows.

 

I think mine has got scratches on it as well. I can only see them when it is really bright outside.

 

You can do something... have your window tinter retrofit soft felt or moleskin along the inner window seal.

 

My installer had no clue what I was talking about when I requested she put felt on the seal. :bang: So, the minute I got home, i whipped out my supply of black felt, tore the doors apart, and added a strip of felt to the seals myself. Not a scratch in sight.

 

Easier solution... get a bottle of Novus Plastic Clean & Shine.
Has scratch resistant properties, just apply with a clean cotton cloth.

Before they redid the tint on my car's windows and installed the felt, they were all amazed by rolling my window up and down and watching the "soft" liner cut the tint with all the scratchs. You could SEE the plastic residue that was cut off the tint after each up/down cycle!

In short, there is no WAY this product is going to make a difference in the long run. It MIGHT slow it down slightly, but you are talking about the difference between being scrached in the first two weeks and being scrached in the first 16 days. Unless that product can apply a diamond film coating to the window... That would do the trick!
