What's this plug for on the Nav Radio?
Hey guys, I'd like to install an OEM Navigation radio in my 07, but I don't have this third plug on the left. What's this plug for? Is it for the sub woofer on the Shaker systems? Has anyone installed the navigation radio in place of the base CD radio. Here's a photo of the back of my stock radio. Note I don't have the third plug. Thanks for your help.

I believe thst is right...that 3rd plug is for the subs. You can try and see if everything works OK without that, but I do recall the Nav option from Ford saying "Shaker 500 required". I also recall from when I put mine in that there was a programming question about whether the car had subs, so I suspect you can run it as a direct replacement for the stock radio if it is programmed OK.

I believe that the plug in question is for rear seat entertainment systems interface. We all know that the sub in the 1000 is in compatible with the nav and this unit was avaliable in most of the SUVs.
Has anyone tried this before? Upgrading the base radio to the navigation unit. I'm worried now that the radio might not work without the third plug. Also, I've been reading about problems with a speed sensor error. Any insight into that? Thanks.
The plug you have in question controls the power to the subs on the shaker 500 and 1000.
The speed sensor problem was one of the problems when trying to install the OEM navigation unit on the 2005-2007 Mustangs.
The navigation unit will have to be programmed for the Mustang and Ford will not be able to program the unit for you.
Look for the thread on installing a navigation radio on a 2005 Mustang. You will find it to be very informative.

The plug is for the subs, and yes it will work just fine . in some 05-07 you will get a error window on the screen just press ok and everything works great. Depending on the car that is out off you will need to program the stereo ,but test it first many time it will work just fine. I have done over 40 installs on mustangs and Im testing the new 2010 hard drive on my 05 mustang.working great.
On the 2010 there is no error mas but these stereos work with the computer speed sensor for the nav portion of it ,Im still working on getting the bugs out ,but I got everything to work so far. you do need an amp and a custom harness, but I can get that.
