Ways to make interior look less cheap?
#21
Wow that headliner is sweet!
However, I think probably the best way to make the interior look "less cheap" would be to have parts of the dash/center console/door panels wrapped in a soft touch leather or vinyl with a little padding underneath by an upholstery shop.
But that's probably not cheap. haha

But honestly I think it depends on how much you want done and how much you're going to do yourself. I've often thought about just having the top part of the dash done like that and I imagine that if I did all the disassembly of the dash myself and just brought that top part (assuming it comes off, I don't really know how the dash comes apart) to a shop I don't think it would be too expensive to have done.
But once I did that I'd probably want the lower part of the dash too. And then the console, and then it'd get very expensive. haha

I just wish I could take the interior from the 2010+ Mustangs and put it in the 05-09 body style. The perfect Mustang for me would be the 05-09 body style with the 5.0 engine and the 2010+ interior. God that would be awesome, haha.

I've done everything myself. I do not know any supply source in the U.S.
But you need only good adhesive and the "leather". It is all glued. But it takes time. I add a couple of pictures for better understanding. Everything does not cost 200 dollars

Unfortunately, I have nothing. Sorry! That's not my Mustang! (on the last picture) I have these views in a neighboring town. But it was too much, just my 2 cent. ...and far too sensitive.

I added a few true billet parts today to my interior that i got from Blue Oval. Great quality and fit.
It's amazing how once they are on they feel like they have always been there. That's a good mod when that happens.

I like it, and it's definitely not cookie cutter, and de-cheapens the interior, ya ask me. And really, it wasn't that expensive to black out the interior and vinyl it... well, the band aids added to the cost 'cause I kept slicing fingers with the razors gettin' the vinyl cut, but *other than that*...
You can't do a good enough job without IUP or similar panels, by the way. The panels on a standard dash do not come apart at all. The IUP chrome and 'tubes' are all removable and reattachable. The airbag can be any panel though, I got a hold of a standard one for that. I decided rather than destroy my panels, I'd keep them and use the ones I found in a junkyard. I still have the IUP original everything if I decide to go back or something.

1) Door lock pins
2) Door handles
3) Headrest wraps
4) Cupholder bezel
5) Hurst shifter (billet)
6) Pedals (billet)
7) AC *****
This was my first thing when I got the car in '06. I hated all the plastic you touch when getting in/out or driving. Those are the "cheap" and "easy" changes that just make the car feel about $5K more expensive. Now if you go all Alcantara BMW M, then you just make the "plastic chrome" and exterior seem cheap. Fixing that gets expensive.

when Upholster done my seats,I drew a running horse design on padding, cut it out and attached it to the head liner, then he covered it.
here's some autovation pedals, foot rest and floor mat covers
go all out with custom door panel, over 13 separate pieces to make it.
custom sewn seats and console cover,
