Getting a Delphi MyFi for the wife for Christmas.
I begged and begged. No avail.
So I asked for a sky fi 2 and a Mustang...

My sky fi remote has been dead for months.......I gotta have mine within poking distance. (never remember to go get new battery)

I've had both Sirius and XM and I think Sirius is a much better service. Its a few bucks more 12.99, but well worth it. Aditional radios are only 6.99/mo. If you subscribe to Sirius for 1 year its 11.87/mo. And less for 2 years etc. I think Ford should definately offer it as an option, as well as Navigation. The technology is certianly out there, I have it in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, why not the Mustang?

Because a 05 Grand Cherokee is $32k (limited) and the Nav is a $1200 option.

that's why

And your point is...?

Why can't Ford offer it as an option? Most new cars do.

GM Cars, Hondas, Toyota,Acura,VW,Saab,Nissan,Lexus. All provide XM as an option in there cars.

XM is going to clearly be the winner of Satellite Radio. Sirius is going to have to raise their prices just to pay for Stern.

Here is a good comparison of both.

I personally have XM and love it.

Technically XM raised prices for Opie and Anthony by making their subscribers pay an additional $2.99 a month to hear them.
Sirius thoughts.
XM is primarilly GM line. They had a year head start over Sirius so they have more subscribers. One of the things they used to have was commercials on their music stations. When they started losing market share to Sirius and market research said it was a problem they stopped. At the time Sirius was already broadcasting without commercials and was in negotiations with Ford to be an option. Sirius also was a car sponsor and still is a race sponsor in Nascar. XM is heavily influenced by major entertainment conglomerate Clear Channel. I feel Clear Channel is a major reason why commercial FM radio is what it is today. That's some reasons why we have Sirius. I have gone from just outside Philadelphia to Charlotte NC, Dearborn MI, Nashville TN and a lot of places in between with no major signal loss. A second or two is all the loss I usually get.
I am pro Sirius and could go on but compare the two and make your choice. Hopefully next year Sirius will be a dealer installed option if not factory.

Who cares if Sirus is a distant second to XM. I have them both and prefer Sirus. Besides Ford is a distant second to GM but I still love my Mustang.

Opie and Anthony are $1.99, that fee will most likly be going way. XM did that fee so they could gauge how many people would want it. Even with paying that fee, XM is still cheaper then Sirius current monthly price, besides look for Sirius to go up to $15-18/month so they can pay for that over paid Stern.

Sirius has nabbed Mel Karmizine as their CEO. (Semi responsible for what radio is today)

It's some of the strange programming too.
I was on a site about 40 miles southwest of New York City. Other contractors had on 92.3 WXRK, K-Rock THE modern rock station for NYC. They went fron Linkin Park to New Order because they started their Retro Lunch BS.
I have a Kenwood Plug & Play with docks in all vehicles and the house so I don't get stuck with broadcast radio.

Same here - also getting sick of all the FCC crap (the way they have blatantly targeted Stern is nuts) and the limitations of regular radio down here in South Florida.

(in a word, radio STINKS down here...)

As for raising the rates to pay for Stern, I HIGHLY doubt they will have to or have any problems. If I remember the numbers right, 500,000 people signed up with Sirius after Stern's announcement within the first two weeks or so.

He doesn't go on the air for another year so....

Plus, besides working up new channel programming for Sirius, he wants them to work on their technology too so I will wait to see what kind of improvements they make over the next 6-8 months or so....

but I am definitely signing up for Sirius.
