Remote Starter

Im thinking of getting this:
DEI Valet 561T Add-On Remote Starter Module
http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/remotestarters.html

along with the necessary transponder bypass.
http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/de....html#anchor37

My question is, how difficult is this install? Ive done my own sound system, heated seats and HIDs so im no stranger to electronics, but the instructions show relays being used and
1.) i dont even know how to wire up a relay ( http://www.oznium.com/relay-harness )
2.) I dont know if I would NEED the relays, though Im assuming I would.

Is there anyone here who could take a look at the instructions ( http://www.directed.com/guides/manuals/ig/valet/N561T_06-03.pdf ) for the remote starter and maybe offer some tips?

All's I can say is I had the most repitible shop in my little town do 2 remote starts in 06 & 08 Stang's. Had funny issues with both cars. Finnally got them to where it was exceptable.
The shop does all the high end work in town and have done all my cars in the past with no problems. Maybe that "spanish oak" system? Or whatever it's called.
Good luck. I do love having the remote start in all cars, for the heat & cold...........

I am confused as to why you would want a remote start. I can't think of a singlr logical reason for a remote start. Aparently it is not all that unusual and the fact that there are kits available proves that but... Am I missing the point?

I would like to have the ability to start my car from the comfort of indoors during the cold NY winter so I can walk into a conveniently warm car.

Live someplace that has real winters.

Picture the second week in a row with 0-10 degree weather, gusty winds, no garage and waking up a half hour earlier to scrape the ice off the windows before leaving for work in the morning.

Here in AZ where I live we have really cold winters and hot summers. Think about getting into a car that the a/c or heater has been running in during one of the 120* summers or 0* winters.

Those above are all the reasons. And yes, you have to have a auto trans. And don't knock the auto trans, this is one reason to have one, a bad back is another, but the best reason for auto comes through at the track, I've never missed a gear yet. So far best time is 13.41 @ 103 mph. Tomorrow the TCI Streetfighter ratchet shifter is goiing in for more fun.
Oh ya, remote starters rule!

I installed a starter (not the one you are looking it) on a Blazer back in '97. I had all the adapters to make it easy, but it's still a royal pain. The fun part is when they tell you to splice in a wire to a certain color wire and there are 4 of the same color in the loom. My install turned out to be a success... but if the Blazer was off and parked and you hit the horn, it would start up! Got a wire wrong somewhere.

Any starter after that for was professionally installed.

Did you check out Crutchfield yet?

Try this page of theirs with a bunch of FAQs on the process:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Learn...x?g=801&tp=149

Crutchfield provides instructions for people to install the products they sell, not just reprints of the manufacturers instructions, but walkthroughs for consumers to follow. Now I've never bought anything from them and have a manual which rules out a remote starter, but I'd start doing research at Crutchfield if I were you.
