My buddy had a Passat that was manual and he had remote start. He told us a story of one day he was getting out of the shower and told his girl tohit the remote start so the car will be warmed up for them cause they had an event to get to in winter, with formal clothes that is cold. Anyway, she also was last to drive his car the nigth before. Well she left the car in gear. She hit the button, it started, broke through the parking brake, straight into a wooden telephone pole. I still crack up thinking about that.

I have a compustart I was going to put in my 93 2.3 DD 5 spd. Has the same sequence to enable it that is mentioned above. With the parking brake, all it does is tap into the wire that turns on the light in the dash. I had to pull the switch and clean it up as the Foxes tend to corrode and not light eventually. ( I've pulled off with the **** brake on at times, LOL ) Now I have the GT I don't need it as it an auto. Going with a Viper 5704 here soon.

I dealt with that cable for years before taking it in to a dealer, had to pay to fix it but it was worth it to have that parking brake in the winter. The replacement cable has been problem-free

Go to car toys...

http://www.cartoys.com/products/prod...h_Remote_Start

This should be about 500 installed.. There is also the 570 model that does not have the HD screen remote. Has built in protection for manual cars and runs great! I have the Viper model of this... 5704. The clifford and the viper are same brand, just different badge.

Best Buy charges a TON more compared to Car Toys which includes the installation.
