I know it can be done, but I've only heard how bad of an idea it is. Are you thinking of doing it yourself? I'm sure you could with some good instructions, but even on an automatic...the instructions looked rather complex.

Another problem to be faced is frozen parking brakes in the winter so it'd be useless in winter lol

just say NO.

there was a post in here years ago about a guy that did it against all recommendations - his car wound up in a pond after driving thru 2 new parked cars at a dealer...bet he got the bill too as doubt insurance would cover.

I believe that's the Mustang he's referring to. Loooooong story short...He bypassed every possible safety feature, yet doesn't want to accept any responsibility for it. Car was totalled, and he's lucky that his insurance actually paid him.

Edit: http://mustangforums.com/forum/2005-...e-updated.html

There's a link to his thread about it, and there's links to his thread about bypassing safety features in it. Just a heads up though, it's almost 40 pages worth of reading...And it's like reading 40 pages of an MT82 thread.

Properly install no problems at all, got one on my wife's 2003. You have to do a sequence before leaving the car; Running in neutral, parking brake on, all door closed, foot off the brake pedal. Then you press the start button on remote, turn ignition off, engine will still run ( if not, something went wrong on the sequence ) once you get out the car and shut the door, engine will stop ( then only you can start with the remote ) if you open the doors after that, sequence is dead ! the car won't start after that, have to do it all over again.

A couple bad things are the brakes freezing in winter. I wouldn't be able to set the parking brake in order to remote start it. The most important part of the year I'd want it!!!

About 6 years ago some guy put a remote start on his 5spd. Was bragging about it out in the parking lot and gave us a demonstation. The car started rolling forward, he decided to jump in front of the car to keep it from hitting a pole....
He got ran over(not hurt), car hit the pole, and I got a good laugh!
