push button start options
push button start options
I installed the stack racing unit and cant stand it. It didnt fit worth a crap, the button itself turns so the "ENGINE START" is not always straight. Its not illuminated like I thought it would be. It wouldnt cover the power outlet completely so I filed it down to have it recess into the hole. I also have one I made that I might try. It uses two relays to start the car. One N.O. for the starter and one N.C. for the accesories, just like the ignition switch. But it would be plain and not illuminated until I can find a better button. I know quite a few have installed the S2000 unit or one from Pep Boys. There is also a nice one I saw on S197 forums. Can you guys post some pics of what you have and give some details about it and where you got it. I will get some of mine later today and add them in.

I installed the S2000 switch. It is lighted. One of the things I like about it is that with the keys off, a push of the button enables all of the accessories for a short period of time. Its great for putting up/down the convertible top, windows, etc. when you don't have the keys with you. I keep my car in the garage and don't carry the keys for the mustang with me so this has been a very useful function.
Here are the instructions for installign the S2000 button:

Gladly. We've had it on our to-do list for some time, but just haven't had hours in the day to get them up on the machines, trust me I'd like to have them as well, especially since we have the original computer models direct from Ford for the fitment. We've been looking at adding a second shift to keep up with demand, but haven't gone down that road quite yet.
There's actually about 10 new products on the to-do list at the moment, two of them which will be coming to market over the next couple months as we do final testing and the parts start to filter back in from finishing. Our biggest slowdown over the past few months has been the custom Tron bike builds we were involved with, and the popularity of some of our products that take up to 45 minutes each to machine, meaning that the machines get tied up for weeks on end with re-stock runs sometimes instead of being open for prototyping / production of other new products.
Good problems to have, indeed

they have the s2000 and GT style
first time and last
Actually has been tested from 2005-11, just working out the details across the option sets to insure we don't have any issues with the different electronics options that the cars have come with. So we've actually tested on a few cars now, but they are all local cars that we can "play" with.
Well Perry, it actually was developed for the new cars first, and we're "backwards" developing it for the 05-09 cars as well.
Etnoats - it's sweetened nice, without the high price. Full remote was looked at, but cost containment and the fact that the car still has a steering wheel interlock kind of made it a moor point (i.e. you'd still need the key to disable the wheel lock unless you wanted to go full-out race car route and remove it, which most customers don't care to do.)

sent by mistake from my fingers
Now when I originally wired it, I disabled the start from the ignition key so only the button would start it. However I re-enabled the ignition key use after I kept turning the key all the way out of habit since I have more than one vehicle that I drive. As it is now I can start it either way.
Anyway, the Honda S2000 IMHO is the best bet because it has lighting and the chrome ring to match the finished look of the gauge cluster, the dash vents and the radio **** chrome rings. This sits perfectly flush inside the power outlet opening. The only thing that had to be done was to enlarge the hole slightly and give it a couple of notches for the switch to pass through and lock itself into place.
There is an entire thread on this somewhere...

Thanks watchdevil, thats what I wanted this thread to be, just pics of what people have but it got hijacked. Right now the S2000 button is pretty high on my list, until SHR shows their hand ( or sends my one-wink wink nudge nudge)
Push button start is only good if the key stays in your pocket. I had a 2009 Challenger R/T with that feature as well as an 09 Lincoln MKS. It was strange to need a key again when I traded each of them lol
