You can't transfer MP3's to the hard drive. It will only accept retail cd's for ripping to MP3's on the hard drive. You simply insert the cd and it will automatically start ripping to the hard drive.

Is anyone using the bluetooth module?

Tell me where to find one. I've been looking all over God's creation for it, but no one has it. It's still back ordered from Pioneer with no delivery date. If anyone does have it, I'd love to hear how it works.

I am wanting to also change out my head unit and go with a touch screen unit but every one I have talked to tells me that I have to gut my whole system (Shaker 1000) in order to go with a touch screen unit. Any one heard of this or have any suggestions?

I just got one off ebay. To get the best out of your new headunit you should get some new speakers too. If your gonna spend $2000 on nav spend another $2000 on some speakers and amps. It's worth it. If not you might be able to get the shaker stuff to work with the new nav unit. Check with Crutchfield.

Im not sure how the shaker 1k is wired up but it could be done depending on that. But I agree if you get such a nice headunit you should get the rest swaped out as well. But im poretty sure it could be a HU only.

So it only puts originial cd's onto its hard drive....that stinks lol

After some reading it sounds like you can burn mp3s to a cdr as a regular audio cd then rip them to the z1. The problem comes with the cdda naming. I'm just going to go with the ipod for mp3s. It would be sweet if the ipods would play videos too.

Did you get a dash kit with it???? I'm not sure I understand......the AVIC-Z1 fits in the space for the Shaker perfectly. Once you put the center control panel back in, there should be no noticable spaces. I have it in my 2005 and there are no spaces whatsoever. Can you take a pic of what your talking about??

Hi Kevin

Thanks for your post, going to get some pictures for you shortly, No I didn't get a dash kit, do I need one for this radio? From what I read I thought it was a instant replacement for the shaker nothing else needed?

When I hold it in place of where the shaker goes its just to small and I cant see a way of screwing it to anything to keep it in place etc, and when I put the front panel back on its not flush and there is gaps all over the place?

Help!

You most certainly do need a installation kit. Go to crutchfield.com and order an installation kit. It won't cost alot, and they are very good with their kits. Without it......your not gonna get far.

Let me know how you make out.
