...

Well I continued my search today and went to autozone, napa, and two other places still can't find this duplicolor import spray. The autozone was out of them and said might have some soon. So I've now been wanting to do this mod for the past month and am having no luck...

Does the clear coat a shine??? Does it make look different from the vents??

Mine doesn't shine at all... It still looks the same as before I added the clearcoat...

And I got all my supplies at Pep Boys and Kragen's...

I used Krylon, clear coat didn't change the look nor the shine. I used dull clear coat.

Try Autobarn. I just got two cans of the silver and clearcoat for 5$ a piece.

http://www.autobarn.net/dup88-series.html

Don't forget to use paint code 88-01530, Toyota Silver.

Finally found the paint at kragens. They're drying as we speak. After they dry I'm going to apply the clearcoat. I will post pics later. Getting the switches off is pita.

Thumbs up Painted and Installed!!!

Here are the pics. Tks to everyone for all the help. Only question now is how do you make it a smoother feel as mine now feel kind of rough.

I used 4 coats of clearcoat over 6 coats of paint. I sanded lightly before applying the paint as well.

Well, it's been a little over a year since I painted my window plates and I am starting to notice that it seems to have faded a bit. The clear coat looks slightly yellowish and there are a few chips in the pain. The left hand plate is a lot more worn then the one on the right since I rarely have a passenger. I do have a convertible and the top is rarely up.

I'm wandering how your paint jobs are hlding up.

Looks like if you wait until January or so, you can get some billet replacements from SilverHorseRacing!

IMO, it's best not to use the exterior color anywhere inside the car (except black or silver of course). Starts to look a little too co-ordinated, kinda like Garanimals (if you're old enough to remember those).

I agree to a piont... but it sets the intrior off alittle to bring some color in to the car i am not saying go and paint the dash pad and center console but just have a few highlights. and besides if it does turn out to be a abomination
its only paint

I think it can look pretty clean, I'll probably paint them Vista when I get the Stang.
