Painting window switch plates

Here are some post paint pictures. I masked off the handle itself and the lock switch. It was too much of a pain to try to get the switch out so I just took my time in masking it. I used 2 zip ties to hold the handle in the open position so I could cover all of the inside of the enclosure. Once again, I'll get some installed pictures tomorrow.
I used 350 grit sand paper to sand the surface down before painting... I'm kind of wishing I has roughed it up a bit more. At this point, I dont know how well the paint will hold up. Time will tell.

That turned out real nice! Kind of a backwards IUP... ![Wink](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And yes, those switches are a pain in the rear to get out... That part took me the longest when doing my switch... There's like 3 different points it hooks in there, it's crazy!
One question, did you sand the switch plates before painting them or just the handles?

Hey pittperson,
thanks for the info and the paint color. Just curious, what color did you use on the door handles to make them black? I also bought the silver Polk/Momo Speaker Grilles from Crutchfield and plan on painting them with the same silver. Should highlight the black and silver interior nicely...

>>Suuuuure you will???<<
I never said I wouldn't be like 60 when it happens...![Wink](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
>>I sanded the switch plates and "door lock thing" with 350 grit as well.<<
Thanks! I thought so, but just wanted to make sure... Those turned out looking real good installed... A couple of nice splashes of color on the all black door... I have the IUP handles and chrome door locks, so adding the window switch will give it the same amount of color contrast I think...

It is possible to take the handles off without taking the door panel off, but it's not easy unless your fingers can get into tight spaces... Cause you have to unhook the switch and the door cable and then re-attach them when you're done... The first one's a pain, but the second one is a piece of cake...
Saying that, I know most people took the whole panel off, but it was easier for me to just pull the handles out...
