Looks pretty cool. I like the thicker ribs. Leave it out in the heat a few days and the wrinkles should go down a bit........

These still don't support side air-bags, do they?

Hey guys, can you tell me if it would be a fairly do it yourself project on installing OEM Ford leather GT seat covers.... I found a pretty good deal on a full new set, and was told by the guy it's easy to do, that they were more or less just all clipped together all around the bottoms and kind of just slipped over like a glove.....
I was reading your gallery on the special staples or whatever, and was wondering if this was somthing i should have professionaly installed or is just in your application. I currently have cloth seats (no side airbags and no power seats) and am looking to upgrade to leather seats front and of course rear. Whatcha think!? Any opinions are appreciated.
Ohh, as well..... I was wondering if you knew what the end result might look like, i'm concerned that they may be "saggy" i want that tight fit, i figure being OEM covers they will fit perfectly, just wondering if they would be wrinkled or saggy looking once installed? Any opinions or advice on this is greatly apreciated! Thanks, Dave

My opinion, pay someone....that way you'll be happy with the end result. Just lighter in the wallet. I've seen good self-installs, and I've seen bad.

I love mine (paid $1300, installed), and I'm always getting asked "did it came from Ford that way"?

The back seat were fairly easy... it was pretty much like what you were told... clipped together all around and slipped on...

The front seats were definitely more involved... You basically have to take them apart to seperate the top from the bottom. I believe there was one torx head bolt... so you need that... As far as the hog rings... they didn't look that hard to do but you would definitely want the proper tool to put them on... they look like a pair of pliers/crimpers... can't imagine they would be very exensive..

BTW.. you do realize that the Ford leather trim seats are really some leather and a lot of vinyl? The center seating area of the front seats are leather... the rest of the front seats and the back seats are vinyl...

Yeah, i was qouted the same for "custom leather" but found Take off Brand New Gt OEM leather covers for $400! After looking at the seats a little seems like it would be fairly easy, and keep my wallet a little heavier....... Just wondering if these are pretty much take off, slide on, and finesse it awhile to get it right, however these "staples" or special tools have me a little concerned.....

Yeah... looking at the pictures I posted I can see they don't look that good... they were fresh out of the box so they were still wrinkled... also I spend a little bit of time adjusting the covers this weekend.... so they look MUCH better now!!! I was a car show Sunday and had the same thing "WOW, did you car come with those?" Best one... this girl looks at them and then goes and grabs here boyfriend who is looking at different car and drags him over to my car! She like "You have to see these seats!" LOL!

Post new pics once the wrinkles have gone away. I am highly considering ordering my GT with cloth seats and then using these seat covers. Also now that you have them, do you like your decision on the "leather-look" alternative? What was the total cost for you? Feel free to pm me if you would rather not say publicly, or at all and I'm not offended. They look like what Ford should do on their Boss/Mach variant.

Ok... new pics are up on my website at: http://www.tammyandjohn.com/Mustang/...tang.htm#Seat2

Here's a couple samples:

As far as cost... MRT is still working on some new pricing...

And as far as the "Leather Look"... I think it was a good choice! You have to remember that the Ford leather trim seats were mostly vinyl anyways!!! LOL! Pretty much everyon that sees the seats says the same thing "WOW!" LOL!

Wow, that looks so much better than first posted. I really dig it Definitely pushes me towards the cloth seat order. I can't find it now, but I have seen that it is a widespread myth about Ford's use of leather/vinyl on the front seats. The myth is that only the insert is leather, but in fact the entire front of the seat is leather (other areas are vinyl). Of course no matter how you look at it, its still Ford leather . How did you go about ordering these seats? I want to ask them a few questions, about what colors where. I would want black as the main color, and a dark grey for the insert, but I would prefer the piece under the knee was smooth instead of the ribbing and in the black color. Just personal preference for the look I would try to achieve.

Check out MRT's page at: http://www.mrt-direct.com/2005/Pages/intpackage.php

Look at the Sport or the Pony seat... they appeart to be smooth under the knee...

It says "Seats available in One and two-tone combinations - black, red, grey, camel, yellow and carbon fiber in leather or "leather look" vinyl upholstery."

If you have more questions you can give them a call at 1-248-960-8813. Might want to ask for Cassie. Tell her "V6 John" sent ya! LOL!

Now... as far as the stock "leather" seats... I'm pretty sure the only part that was leather on mine was the center section on the front seats. The sides part was a 100% match to the new "Leather Look" covers! Identical look and feel!
