Thanks for the help guys, it sounds like you guys are only screwed into the carpet and backer as I was. I am concerned that it won't be tight enough and I'll loose the dead pedal under the clutch or worse the brake at the most inopportune time. I'll see about getting some longer screws and go from there.

Installed my set today. I got the heet/toe extension on the gas pedal, and let me tell you -- excellent.

Dead pedal is secure and fine so far.

The clutch and brake pedals were a pita to drill, at least the top holes, but the clutch feels more direct with the metal as opposed to the stock rubber.

The only thing wrong, which was my fault, was drilling the brake pedal bottom hole too close to the edge of the pedal. I'm not sure if it would want to break loose. If so, I'll just get some silicon glue to supplement the bolts if I feel insecure about it and leave it at that.

And the gas pedal. How I love thee.

Pictures to come.

I am about to install my pedals. Thought I would ask how deep the foam under the dead pedal is. I am thinking I will buy some much longer than what was sent. I am thinking about 2" or so for the screws. Want to get as deep as possible. Eventually I will probably try to manufacture a bracket for it. I want it to be nice and solid, and not wear out. Any tips mucho appreciated. Thanks

There is two levels of foam under the carpet. One layer is about 5mm thick, and is used instead of the old jute backing. The next layer I would say is another 5mm-7mm thick and looks to be used as a sound deadener. I only removed the first layer, I think a 1.5" screw would be more than enough to travel down through securely. I am going to predrill first and then run screws through.

Is there metal backing behind the pads to screw into, or are you just going to go into the pads only. Thanks for any info. Still havent gotten screws yet

For the dead pedal, I installed 4 screw in wall anchors into the foam. Also put some liquid nails around each anchor.

Holds tight!

Yes once you go through both layers of foam you will hit the steel floor.

md_mustang,
excuse my ignorance, but how did you get wall anchors into the foam and what are liquid nails?
Thanks,
Jeff

Well I havent done mine yet. But I am thinking as long is there is nothing below the sheet metal below the foam, just drill all the way thru, and use stainless steel bolts instead of sheet metal screws, and washer and nut on the back side. I will try and see if there is anything in the way this weekend. Has anyone tried actually going thru the sheet metal, and using nuts etc. I want a nice solid dead pedal. If that is not possible I may have to fabricate a bracket at work. Only time will tell. Thanks for all advice.

I wasn't paying close enough attention and missed out on the last group buy. Is anybody reading this in the same boat as me? If there's some interest here (5 people including me) I'll contact the company and try to set it up.

I used 4 screw in type wall anchors. Liquid Nails is an industrial strength adhesive that comes in a caulk tube. You can buy both at any hardware store.

I predrilled the foam large enough for the wall anchors. Then I spread a little liquid nails on the threads on the anchor and screwed them into the floor. I let the liquid nails harden and screwed the dead pedal into the anchors.

Hope that helps!
