ipod interface

Just thought I'd start a thread on where everyone's hidden the ipod interface if they've installed it (glovebox or wherever).

I ran mine under the center/middle console under the cup holders. I popped open my arm rest, then ran it through that little plastic square piece that comes out. I plan to buy an ipod holder to stick it in the power thingy in there to hold it upright, in place and out of view. Now all I have to do is

I am thinking about getting an ipod adapter. Which one did you use, and is it and FM modulator or direct wire input, (sounds like direct wire)?

I used a Kenwood KCA-iP500 (direct wire) to an aftermarket stereo. If you've got the stock Shaker, check out this thread. It may help you out.

That's a super slick place for it! Much nicer than how mine is. Something tells me I know what I'll be doing on Sunday. :^)

Here's mine... just ran the cable up through the opening under the parking brake.

I like having the iPod in sight, so I can easily change what I'm listening to.

It's hard-wired, using the PIE adapter... works great, never had any problems.

Yes, for a setup like yours, that is ideal. I went ahead and purchased an Alpine CDA-9857 which has built in iPod contols. It is fantastic and I can leave my iPod hidden in my glove box when I get to work. I only pull it out when I'm going to listen to it or when I get home...

That's the next step (at some point)... getting a head unit with iPod controls. I'd definitely prefer that.
