Installed mine today. Went very smooth. Just follow the directions and you're fine. I highly recommend reading the writeup by Jack Phelps, very helpful. I purchased the same "tap-a-network" fixture and it helps very much. My only problem now is that my temp is reading a few degrees warm. I may need to find a better spot to mount the sensor.

Larmo - I had the same problem as you with temperature readings that were a little high. I ended up installing mine in the grille and the temperature readings are much more accurate now. I installed it so that the silver clip goes in a honeycomb slot that is blacked out but the sensor is in an open honeycomb slot. It is barely visible. It seems to hold well even after using a pressure washer on the grille when washing it. The other locations I tried seemed to allow for a heat buildup by not being in a free airflow area.

Thanks Ron. So does the sensor face forward or rearward?

Larmo - The sensor faces forward. It's kind of hard to describe but some of the honeycomb holes on the grille don't go all the way through so I put the silver clip in one of those and the sensor through one of the holes that does go all the way through. When you don't see the silver clip it makes the sensor all but invisible. My temperature readings now are very accurate.

Finally got aroound to installing mine last night. Went really smooth not issues at all. I also went with the "tap-a-fuse" for power which made it really easy.

My only question is...was the "M harness" suppose to come with the plastic cover for the wiring? If so mine didnt??

Mumeye, glad the install went well for you. I also have the same question as you. I got the M harness as well and right now I have 2 ugly wires going from the mirror to the headliner. I'm thinking it will look much more finished with the plastic cover. I sent a message to the vendor and I'll let you know what I find out.

I thought the point of paying the extra $10 for the M harness was that you wouldn't need the $15 plastic cover?

Still waiting on my mirror but I have to agree I thought that is why we bought the M wire harness also.

I'm interested to find out what Larmo finds out about the plastic cover for the wires. I used the M harness but I'm not digging the wires being exposed, looks like $hit. I havent had time to clean the mirror yet but here's a couple pics, not great but I'm no photographer...

I am still unclear as to what the upgraded M harness bought us. I was also under the impression that the M harness meant we wouldn't need a plastic cover. I have emailed them again tonight asking for clarification. I've also asked them to mail me cover and I'm sure they won't have a problem with that. On their website they even say they are a free accessory if desired. Stay tuned.

My install is done. I found a plastic wire cover in my misc. bin of parts, will install that to fully complete it.

I am really confused by this wire cover issue. I ordered my Gentex with the Mito harness from AutoDax and a wire cover. When I installed the Gentex with compass and temperature display I found that the Gentex included a wire cover, which was an exact duplicate of what was on my OEM mirror with the compass. I returned the wire cover and received a refund. My understanding of the difference between the Gentex and Mito harness was that with the Gentex some hard wiring would be involved and that a wire cover would be required to make it look better.

Okay I finally got my mirror tonight. Have the install about 3/4 done. I have to join in with the group on why we bought the "M" wire system. I have no wire cover with mine. The instructions clearly state it is an option. So what did I pay $10 extra for?

UPDATE
So I just got done with a long conversation with Howard (our guy at AutoDax). He has informed me that their distribution center screwed up. Instead of sending M harnesses to all of us they sent G harnesses. Both work and are very similar, but from what he tells me the M harness combines the two wires coming from the mirror to the headliner into one big wire.

Howard feels horrible and wants to make it right. He has offered the following options. 1) he will ship out free to everyone the plastic wire cover to cover the two wires to clean up the look. This will match the OEM mirror with compass as some have already indicated they want. 2) he will ship you an M harness upgrade as originally ordered.

As for me I already have the mirror installed and operational so I'm not gutting it to reinstall the M harness again. I chose option 1 and will just install the plastic cover when it gets here. Plus, that looks more OEM anyway and thats what I'm shooting for.

Please communicate directly with Howard to let him know your choice (if any). Guys I apologize for this mistake but I'm just the messenger. Please call or email Howard and explain you are in our group buy and need reparations!!!!

I just installed my Gentex and I recommend everyone get the plastic cover ... it looks way more professional and factory ...
