Leo, the $160 shipped includes the upgraded wiring harness which is the most attractive wire loom.

I thought the Mazda was the Gentex - sorry for the confusion.

Hey Dan,
I will have to wait a few days to order mine since I just got to Florida yesterday for the week. Don't want my new mirror laying out in the weather for a week. Want to thank you for the heads up on the mirror deal. I have wanted one for a long time.

MustangGuy - Not sure if you are from Phoenix or California but for those of us with four seasons, if the outside temperature was hovering between 30 and 40 degrees it would be nice to know when that rain would start to freeze and you might start sliding around. The Gentex mirror with temperature reading displays "ICE" for a short period of time when the temperature falls below 37 degrees to warn the driver if there is any moisture on the road.

I ordered mine last night. Just a quick heads up for those ordering to include the year and model of the Mustang so that they can be sure all that is needed is included. I forgot to do that in my order info and they sent me an email requesting that. So maybe that will save you time.

Got mine on order today but asked if they hold shipment until Thursday since I am out of town. They said it was "no problem"

Hey Dan,
What does the windshield mount look like? In the old days you just loosened a set screw a little and could lift the mirror off. I'm not sure how these new ones come off.

The Gentex mount uses a T 20 torx set screw to replace the original Ford spring type mount. The torx set screw is a much better alternative, which allows easy removal if necessary. Guess Ford saved $ .05 per vehicle using their OEM type mount. I noticed that my Dodge Dakota uses a torx set screw as the OEM type mount.

Worried about removing the OEM mirror, I just checked it out and the darn OEM mirror slid off without any effort and without any tools. Weird. I had heard horror stories about this. Guess I'm home free now.

Anyone know any tricks to getting the OEM mirror off? If not, looks like I'll have to take it to a pro

Took some time but I figured it out. Only trick was to press firm with the screwdriver then she popped right off. Here's a couple of pics in case anyone needs a reference as to what/where the screwdriver should be presing against.

I have the OEM mirror with the compass, does anyone know if this will plug and play and I just install the Temp sensor or do I need to replace my old harness.

302svt - I had the same mirror as you before I installed the Gentex with temperature display and was asking the same question. You will want the Gentex mirror with the Mito harness it plugs directly into the back of the new mirror just as the harness from your original mirror. You will want to use the new Mito harness because the temperature sensor plugs into it directly (downstream away from the mirror). It is not a difficult install, I previously posted an install write up by a fellow named Jack Phelps, which is very helpful. It has pictures as well as instructions and is excellent. If you can't find it let me know and I'll dig it out.
