The top hole is just too small to slide down to the bottom of the rubber handle, let alone onto the metal part. Here's a picture after I cut the slit in the top hole, the slit is only about 1/2" long, but will probably need to be bigger to get it to slide down. When I first tried to put it on, I didn't know you had to remove the plastic part on the brake lever to get the bottom of the boot to slide down past it. I going to try again this weekend now that I know that, and see how it works out. They still haven't responded to my question as to why they didn't send the redesigned one like they said. VGMStudios did you get the same boot as me, or did you get the redesigned one with the wider opening?

Here it is 2015 and there is no way this boot hole is fitting over anything. Wish I had seen this thread first.

You realize the parts ship from Poland, right? I didn't see this at first when I ordered my shifter boot. As far as it fitting over the shifter shaft, if you follow the instructions (turn the boot inside out and use a zip tie) it will fit. At least it did on mine.

Thanks ZGrand. I printed the directions of the site, but see nothing about a zip tie and inside out. Ill get it licked one way or another. I appreciate the tip. It makes sense.

Hey sorry Sean, wasnt really lame reasons. Marcy was burnt out working 7 days a week between a full time job and our gig and she had some health issues going on. Combined with the fact that using oem materials that were not cheap we really didnt make any money off the parts so I could see her frustration after the time we put into it to make the best parts we could.

People would call after a week asking when the parts would ship, that just added stress to the mix, and pissed her off. Seeing redline taking 2 months, using cheap aftermarket leathers,(ya fine Italian leather) zip ties inside out instead of designing and making a part to fit right, thats a joke and that looks like **** too. Marcy quit on me and I thought I had a guy to stitch but he didnt have the time so couldnt find another seamstress with even half of her experience so I had to shut it down. We put out alot of quality parts over the years in 7 countries for more than fair prices, did the best we could. Just couldnt make enough to not have to work full time jobs and do this making it almost 2 full time jobs, working every evening and weekend for cheap and it did grow old for me too. Doing it legal, the taxes ate us up along with all the other costs.

So there was nothing lame about not being able to continue.

The parts did ship from Poland, but for what ever reason my tracking showed the products took 14 days to get to Florida after they got to NY? My parts came with no instructions either and like other people said the instructions on the site were for the old parts and said nothing about turning it inside out. Even with turning the boot inside out, I still had to slit the boot to get it to slide over the rubber handle part. And another thing that wasn't in any instructions was the fact that you had to remove the plastic cover from the ebrake arm to get the lower end of the boot to slide down on it.

I got an email from Redline this morning that included the zip-tie method. I may have to do this, but honestly I am not a fan of this style of engineering, when spending that kind of cash. I just contacted a local shop and hopefully they can take the existing product and make it work. It looks great, I just need to get it on.

That's what I disliked about all their items, they were just left undone, the center console wrap was particularly bad. Worse yet they had the upper and lower console wraps mislabeled on the site and sent me the wrong one. Took several months and emails to get it corrected. Then I got a set of the FRPP seats and had a local guy wrap them in leather along with my console and door panels. Should have just done that to begin with.

Same boat, I just left the upholstery shop and he is going to correct everything. Especially the bulky center console, we are discarding their foam, and trimming to 1/8 inch.
He cant do it till the 23rd, will share everything when it is done.

Hi Mike,

I am really sorry for the lame comment. That was way out of line for me. I can imagine how difficult it was to deal with all the orders for just a small shop. We all appreciated your work here and the quality of your work compared to others. Redline could be good if they just spent more time designing their pieces. The shifter boot is also a big let down for me from them. You guys designed yours properly and Redline just doesn't really understand what good quality work is.
