Dynamatting my car..
i'm going all out.
already finished the trunklid and trunk area including the rear fenders.
under the rear seats and quarter panels.
today i removed the passenger seat getting ready to do the floorboards.
at this point i still have the roof, doors and floor.
it's a pain in the *** process.. and i've already gone through over 40 sq.ft of material.
my question now though, since the interior is already stripped out, now is a good time to finish this up properly once and for all.
i figured some areas might use another layer of dynamat for added insulation, but i sure as heck not gonna do the whole car over again.. it took me a week to get where i am already!
what are your thoughts on the matter?

I say go with one layer all the way around, and then way later on if you get ambitious to go through it again and improve where you think its needed....
i started doing this to my trunk last week and i ran out of mat.. DOH!

Typically, you want 2 coats around the wheel wells and under the seats to cut down on exhaust drone and road noise.
THat stuff is heavy though, I don't know if I'd want to add weight.

i've been concerned about the weight myself till i lifted a bulkpack with 32 sq.ft dynamat Xtreme..
it really wasn't all that heavy.
i figured it probably weighs less than my custom made wooden subwoofer box, which i'm planning to ditch and plant the sub in the spare wheel well

Looks real nice. I did the same thing last year but I didn't do the trunk lid. I was going to take out the front seats but got scared of the side airbags. Did you run into any problems? How did you remove them without setting them off? I am hoping to finnish this project this spring.

it's really easy David.
power off the car, remove fuse #17 from the SJB panel (passenger side kick panel)
turn ignition on and you should see the airbag warning light remains on (otherwise you've removed the wrong fuse!)
switch the car back off and disconnect the battery.
wait a minute for any backup power in the system to discharge and you're good to go.
when done and the airbags are reinstalled (seats are back and connections are back in place) put the fuse back on then reconnect the battery!
it's simple as that.
for more info, refer to the following PDF.

I had 300sq of eDead V1se2 and 3 gallons of liquid in my '06. I also used 100 sq of closed-cell foam, and a bunch of sponges crammed in gaps. It STILL won't kill off a good exhaust note, but it does keep out the drone.

I started this same project today. I agree it is a pain to take apart the interior. One note about your trunk lid installation. You sure you want it on the surface where the weather seal hits? I am thinking that may cause a leak.

We used several hundred sq feet in our '07 Tundra Crewmax (the big beast) and it made a WORLD of difference for the exhaust drone and tire drone.
