So where are we on direct replacements for the door subs? Anyone come up with a good fit? So far in this thread some slim Pionner is the only thing anyone has liked.

The CDT's work quite well. There is also the AudioPulse if you have a money tree. Bastards at TC Sounds said they didn't have the capability of making this driver, then create a new name and build it. ********.

Obviously, I'm not obsessing over it like I was before, but I won't give up on finding a proper driver.

Hey Guys,

I am no Sonic Wrench Yanker but I do like killer tunes in my pony. After reading this post, have we determined what would be a decent, higher power door sub and a rear sub that would compliment it? I know they have a couple of trunk enclosures for a single 12 and I would like to do something like that but would only want to add one amp to power all the subs.

Any suggestions at this point? I would like to keep it within $600 to $900 (no more and that would need to be subs, enclosures, amp(s) whatever...

My opinion is that you will want to: a) replace your factory sub amps, because they can't really handle an aftermarket sub's higher impedance, b) this means you either need a 3 channel amp that puts out a good 100x2 and 300-500+x1 (hard to find, if possible - maybe use a 5 channel and sacrifice 2 channels?), or maybe you should just get two amps.

Two amp solution: (all prices are from www.techronics.com unless otherwise specified - I bought my equipment there and have been very pleased)
Trunk sub amp: Alpine PDX-1.600 Mono sub amp (600 Watts RMS) - $300
Door sub amp: Alpine PDX-2.150 amp (150x2 Watts RMS) - $250
Trunk sub: Alpine SWR-1242D Type-R 12" Subwoofer (50-500 Watts RMS, 1500 Watts Peak) - $115
Trunk sub enclosure: Scosche Custom fit 12" enclosure for 05-08 Mustangs - $130 (from Crutchfield.. maybe cheaper elsewhere)
Door subs: Rockford Fosgate Punch P18S4 8" subs x 2 (150 Watts RMS, 300 Watts Peak) - $45x2
Cables+fuse: $50
---
Total $885.

The Alpine PDX units are a bit more expensive than your typical amp, but they are great because of:
1) SIZE: They're ****ing SMALL! Also, all PDX units are the same size and shape.
2) POWER EFFICIENCY: They are very efficient with a given amount of power - this means less strain on your alternator or more sound.
3) STACKABLE:

So stacked, (they screw onto each other), you can consider it "one amp" if you were concerned about space or mounting issues.

If you don't care about space, then you can probably find similarly spec'd amps for about $100 less each and save $200 (total cost : ~$700)

Not bad suggestions, but I don't suggest using the Type-R in a sealed enclosure. It sounds terrible, and really excels in a ported environment. It's a far cry from the TypeX you use, which works VERY nicely sealed. Maybe try the CSS 12, which is similar (but improved) to the old Adire Brahma.http://www.diycable.com/main/product...roducts_id=653
