Auxiliary input on radio

No progress on the harness from me. However I do have a word of advice for those who use FM transmitter to send signal to a satellite receiver: if you do not listen to your FM stations take off your antenna. I did that yesterday and it drastically decreased (practically eliminated) the amount of interference I was getting. I drive on Rt. 1 in central NJ and use frequence of 107.7. Typically I have a spot or two where the FM signal from the station is very strong and starts to interfere with my FM transmitter. Not today! I'll be visiting Home Depot today to buy a small bolt to cover the opening for the antenna, so that water does not accumulate in there.

How will that affect the AM stations? The reason I ask..I'm a big bay area baseball fan and my satelite doesn't carry MLB.

derynf - I checked and you'll only be able to listen to AM stations with a strong signal. If a station has a strong AM signal you won't notice much of a difference (maybe a bit more static than normal). Weaker signal stations will be deteriorated to static.
Now to the antenna replacement:
UPR antenna delete looks nice, but it is $15 plus shipping. A bit too much for a piece of steel alloy in my book (opinions vary). I got two bolts at Home Depot for a wooping 64 cents plus tax. Here is what I got: Cap Screw Socket, stainless steel, #10-24 x 3/4" (10-24 is the width and 3/4 in is the length).
Another reason to take antenna off is not to worry about it when going to a car wash.
I'll keep antenna in the trunk with a pair of pliers just in case if I ever want to stop on the side of a road and put it back. Btw, when you take it off don't forget to put some tape on the pliers so it doesn't scratch the paint on your antenna.
Still wish someone would come up with a solution for a AUX harness.

drizztbob - Thank you! and it's cheaper too
derynf - wow! strange. Sorry you have to make another trip. Could it be because you have a GT and I have a V6? Did Ford use different antenna suppliers due to parts shortage? This is unlikely, but why else would a GT have a different antenna socket from a V6. Could you post a picture and specs on the one that fits GT? Thanks!

Deryn, I can't wait to see your new mod close up in May.

Let's see by the time I get to the cruise:
Antenna delete
Steeda pedals
billet ac *****
1" back wheel spacers
sequential tail lights
and pony hub centers.

Still no info on a harness that will allow Aux input on the Shaker?
...consider this just another "bump."

I've got a jpg that shows the back of the radio, all of the aux connectors, and the pinout of each connector. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure I got it off this site. It's 125K, and I'm afraid some of the fine print may be hard to read if I reduce the picture size.
If anyone thinks this would be helpful, pm me and I can email it.
The connector you need with the aux inputs is J4, an 8 pin plug. The pins are numbered clockwise, with pin 1 in the lower right corner. The connections are:
pin1 Aux Audio +
pin2 Aux Audio -
pin3 Aux Audio Shield
pin4 Aux Audio Enable (no idea what to connect here - maybe ground?)

I haven't seen the back of the radio. But i have access to tech manuals. The schematic does not show anything even similar to (RCA) jacks on the back. It looks like some multi wire connector plug. I don't know if i can get a copy of the wiring schematic or not.

You can get one of those radio transmitter things for your iPod so that all you have to do is tune to the transmitter frequency, no tape cassette adapter required.
cspruill - true, but there is a BIG difference in sound quality. I had an aftermarket radio with front AUX input in my Camry and its 3 1/2 speakers delivered better quality sound than my Skipper 500 with FM transmitter.
