I read a topic about the AUX being an input for the radio unit. Where is this? What is it used for? I would really like to be able to hook my iPod up to it, since I can't burn freaking CDs out of my iTunes library. :bang:

DVD player, may be for the hands-free setup too.

I was guessing that, too. But anyone have a more specific location. I got a sirius orbiter to hook up and not really wanting to tear apart the dash.

I haven't seen the back of the radio. But i have access to tech manuals. The schematic does not show anything even similar to (RCA) jacks on the back. It looks like some multi wire connector plug. I don't know if i can get a copy of the wiring schematic or not.

well it would be nice to be able to wire something to the front where I could hook my Ipod. Those radio transmitters are junk, and there is no tape player to add one of those cassette adapters.

It would really be nice if someone with the radio out would post some pics....or at least tell what kind of plugs are on the unit.

Yeah really, a tape player??

I actually found a way to create the MP3 cds from my iTunes library, so I am happy now, but I would still like to be able to hook my iPod up in there without having to burn CDs.

This topic seems to come up a lot between satellite radio and iPod users. Hopefully some enterprising person out there will be able to come up with a workaround.

I just had an Alpine headunit installed in my Durango over the weekend, and besides having an auxiliary input, I also purchased the KCA-420i, which is an iPod controller. It charges your iPod, and allows it to be controlled from the headunit. Assuming it works well (haven't had the opportunity to play with it yet), then it may change my decision on the Shaker 1000 for the '05.

I'll be curious to know how I can hook up my ipod as well. An ipod buyer's guide (downloadable pdf) was just posted at ipodlounge.com that shows all the products related to ipods with an editor's review. I haven't had a chance to really look at it but will post if I see something. I hope I can find something in time to add to my Christmas list!

Wonder if they'll make an adapter of sorts?

I should hope so...if not there is always a good ol' jerry-rig job...

(after 4 years of high school set production you pretty much learn how to jerry-rig a spaceship out of a calculator...)
