Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting the chrome to fit around the corners of the grill if it's still on? Mine keeps pinching itself closed when I get to that curve, and there is really no gap like I can get on the sides and bottom....

I didn't have any problems, just needed a little persistence. Maybe try a blowdryer on the trim to make it a little more flexible. That would also maybe help minimize the hairline cracks that are likely/normal around the corners.

Thanks John, that's probably it. Gnats are getting terrible around here this time of year, I probably just need to get at it with a fresh set of eyes.

If it's still too difficult, I'll give the ole blow dryer a try as well!

NNNOOOOO! Don't try the blow-dryer or heat gun! This will cause the chrome film layer to crease very badly, like spider webbing. The corners ARE difficult to turn if the grille's still installed. Two tips, one, when you do it, have it outside and the sun can warm it slightly. Second, run something through the gap to widen it, as a sort of shimm - just not too much or it won't hold on. Only do that for what you need for turning the corner, then just use good ole finger pressure the rest of the way. I also use a wire cutter for a clean edge. Just experiment which way to clip, bevel of the cutters away from the edge, or your finished end will look squished.
