Question: GT/CS bumper conversion from GT bumper*

Preemptive: Yep, I did a search, but can't confirm via the results, so I'm just askin'.

Current situation: Front GT bumper cover, 2006 Mustang, damaged in accident, likely to be replaced outright by the coverage.

Desired situation: Front GT/CS bumper cover for that car instead of stock.

Query: Will the hardware from the GT bumper cover situation translate to the GT/CS bumper, or is there new hardware to also acquire, and the GT/CS 'total' kit the thing to get?

I am aware the GT lower grille will not translate, but those are available for the GT/CS separately. I will not be puttin' the plate on the front... at first, anyway... so no license bracket needed, only thing I think I need is the cover and the two lil' grilles.

Am I wrong?

I know I can get the kit that has *eryting*, but the pricing on some of it is... weird. Some is as low as $300 (!) and some as high as $550, with varying availability and shipping, so... it might be easier to get just the accessory cover and the two lil' grilles, hence my question.

Thanks in advance for y'all's help! Just tryin' to understand things better.

Id have to go look at mine as I've never had it off so not sure how many pieces it is but i think AM sells theirs as a kit. It at least has the bumper and the two side grille inserts. Mine is a factory CS and i would highly recommend the center grille my condenser has taken a pounding.

Indeed, the kit seems available, and may be what happens, but depending on if I need all that or just the cover/lower grille stuff and that's it... hey... y'know, money's money, right?

Appreciate the info on the center grille. Very interesting... the GT opening is the same idea, but with that center bar... surely that's not that big a deal...?

A few years back the "kit" was actually cheaper than just the replacement fascia, go figure

I checked mine out last night looks like all the hardware is the same from the GT videos and pics i have seen looks to be a few bolts at the fender well on either side so you should be good with just the valance and grille inserts if your willing to pick up a few packs of the push rivets to secure everything. Have you found the valance and inserts cheaper somewhere else? Ford is usually pretty good with interchangeability. I have done a few other ford vehicles and very rarely do they require additional parts other than a few bolts here and there. As far as the grille the CS is quite a bit lower than stock GT making the opening much larger. Things flying up from the road seem to track right for the condenser and there is not much to prevent it.

Bottom Line: If the price difference is considerable go for just the pieces. But if its minimal id say get the kit and then you don't have to run around looking for random hardware if you chose to add the license plate bracket or whatever later.

That's exactly what I needed to know, Chris! Thanks very much for the help and info, everyone.

As to pricing... not as yet, still tryin' to get the whole deal figured out on payment. At that point, parts shoppin' begins.

Again, much obliged!

The CS/GT bumpers, frt and rear, are a direct fit. You need nothing else when switching it out from the GT. With the V6, you need front inner splash guards and the radiator panel under the front section.

6R3Z-6320049-AA is the front fascia and still can be bought from Ford for around $350 or less, depending on your dealer. (Here is a sample) http://www.oemfordpart.com/oe-ford/6r3z6320049aa

The rear is 6R3Z-6320049-BA and is available for under $300 from Ford. http://www.oemfordpart.com/oe-ford/6r3z6320049ba

My local dealer will sell it for a bit cheaper to me, but these are really good pricing on your bumper fascias. Good luck.

Both front and rear fascia, using the kits, are cheaper than just buying the single fascia, without fasteners, etc. I'd personally go with the kit numbers I listed in a prior posting.

I've not dealt with that vendor... anyone know if they're ok or not?

Also.. I'm assuming direct with Cervini for a Cobra R hood is a decent way to go, seeing as everywhere they're the same price...?

Question: GT/CS bumper conversion from GT bumper 2005-2009 Mustang*

Houtex. If you are asking about the sites I listed, you can use those part numbers and ask your LOCAL FORD dealer what they will charge for them. Any way you look at it, buying these particular parts are cheaper from Ford than say AM, CJ, or whoever you want to try. The reason is that Ford makes these and sells them to aftermarket sellers. When it comes to original part numbers, you can usually buy them cheaper from a local dealer, or major dealer (Tasca, SilverState, etc). Good luck with your purchases and I hope you come out the way you want. (I am a retired auto partsman/mechanic with many years of Ford experience in dealerships).

As far as the lower front grille, the kit comes with the two side grille covers, but if you want the one for the center section, then you will need something like the one that SilverHorse Racing has for the CS.GT. I have this set up on my Base model, and fitment is perfect. The grille cover is about $100 or a bit less, but in my opinion, it is worth the price, as it protects all the lower parts from flying debris and road crap. Good luck.

Forgot to mention that, definitely worth it both for protection and it makes the front look "finished". I didn't have one at first and it looked to me like there should have been a factory one but it had fallen out

Another option for those two lower side pieces are the Agent 47 brake cooling scoops. I like mine
