Please help (caliper's look rough)

I just used duplicolor's caliper painting kit and it looks kinda rough, I sanded, and cleaned the calipers for a long time, and they were spotless. I put three coats on them which might have been a mistake. They look kinda bumpy and rough. Can I sand them and apply another coat? or what should I do? any advice is welcome, thanks

The only thing i can tell you is to sand them and repaint..Otherwise see whhat a set of 4 costs new or see if someone that has new brakes wants to sell old calipers

pictures would help, but not knowing anything about the paint kit, there is the possibility that you may have to build up successive coats in order to get a nice realtively smooth paint job.

Hi,
My Duplicolor kit chipped horribly, and only in a matter of weeks! I sanded it off as best I could, and cleaned everything with Mineral Spirits. After masking, I sprayed them with Krylon's Fusion Paint, in bright red. Yes, this is the plastic paint, but it really works great on calipers, and it doesn't chip or fade. I would recommend you wear a respirator with this stuff.
Brian.

You might want to check with Eastwood www.eastwood.com . They make very good stuff and they have a brake caliper paint that should be pretty good also.

I have had the Krylon Fusion Paint on for about 6 months now. Absolutely no chipping! The stuff is only about $7 or so, and is a bargain. I have also used it on plastic, of course, and it really dries hard and tough.

I can also recommend the fusion (for use and needing a respirator). I used it on my Jeep flares a couple of months before trade-in amd I could bend and flex the flares without worry. I never had a chip even after getting pelted with rocks by a truck.

I used duplicolor spray paint (primer, base and clear all high temp) and its been on about 5 months with no problems and it isn't bumpy either.

The Duplicolor Caliper Kit that I used was just an aerosol cleaner and a 1-part paint with a paint brush to apply.

Obviously, your primer / color / clear-coat paint system is working great and looks great.
