Looking for Painted Billet fuel doors... Post yours up!!

Sending some stuff in for paint later today and one of the items going in is a SHR billet fuel door. Looking for some ideas on what to do with the cap screws in the perimeter... paint them to match, leave them as is, or replace with black screws??

Looking for some reference photos, so post up any aftermarket fuel caps that you have painted body color. As a reference, here's a SHR door...

Thanks!

I am really leaning towards just getting them painted for now as I can always swap them out for some black or stainless screws down the road.

Well it's not billet but I had the thumbnail removed by a friend at a body shop and then repainted. Then I modiifed a 2010 gas door retainer to fit my '05 so it could be opened by depressing the gas door.

Shameless thread jack about to take place. When you say modify, how much are we talking?

The plastic retainer is molded and intended to fill the entire area of the gas door opening. I basically trimmed the entire back of it off and a little bit of the left side (where it meets the door) so just the face of it was left. Note -- I did have to notch the metal on the car (piece between the 2 bumper tabs) abppx 1/2" to make clearance for the plunger that is attached to the retainer that activates the door. I then removed the factory bumpstops, drilled (2) holes in the retainer and attached it to the car using the plastic fasteners in the existing holes for the bumpstops. It sounds complicated but was actually very easy.

You are right Robert, it was a "shameless" thread jack

But O5Satin's fuel door looks great and I do have to say that is being creative

Mine is done and will be going on the car tonight along with the hood. Stay tuned for pictures along with seeing how we decided to modify the SHR one a bit!

Just a friendly note too that we now offer these "raw" at a discount to our normal price, so if you're contemplating painting them, it's a savings we can pass along since we're not paying to have them anodized or plated before you take delivery. Just as a note though - raw pieces come unassembled. Everything is included, but no sense in assembling them just to take them back apart again.

It's a Ford accessory item

The matte silver paint matches with my car pretty well.
