Hey Glenn, haven't ordered my stang yet, just saving so i could drop at least 50% of the price + trade in (2002 GT) down so that a can keep my payments nice n low but i will order it with the gt apperance package from factory...I personally like the look!!...specially with a 281 emblem on it just as steeltownstang has on his scoop....Look awsome!!!

Actually I agree with you on this one. If I'm going to have a scoop it needs to be funtional otherwise I prefer none.

 

That's not completely correct... The GT/CS has side scoops, the Shelby has side scoops and a hood scoop, Ford offers the GTAP, which includes a hood scoop- Ford even offers a spoiler delete... AS AN OPTION. Most cars are made... "smooth", with add-ons. That being said, it seems that Ford purposely made the car to accept appearance mods. To me, the car looks better with scoops, louvers, and spoilers. It gives the car character... That "roll-bar" you have there is definitely not "smooth", was not factory equipped, serves no purpose, and is there for looks... like the hood scoop.

 

i kinda wish i waited and ordered a stang with the GTAP...

with that being said. i don't think i would buy one after the fact. they're pretty expensive (for being non-functional) and i would have to go through the trouble of installing/painting and what not.

 

Geesh...you guys are brutal. I never stated that anyone's car looked ugly and never bashed anyone's car. I gave a general opinion, which was the point of the thread from the beginnig.

All I said from the getgo that it looks "stuck on" when it's by itself, and that it looks better with the side scoops.

With regard to lightbar: I'll be the first to tell you that the bar takes away from the smoothness of the car. And, it's NOT a roll bar, and I don't advertise it as a roll bar. Check my sig. Technically, it isn't even a lightbar, because it doesn't have a "fourth" brake light.

 

BTW, if I had a poll saying, "which looks better, light bar or no light bar", and someone said no light bar and gave a reason, I wouldn't call him gay.

But, that's what was said to me.

 

Seems like anything you don't like is either gay or a waste of money. I got my shaker strictly for appearance any peformance gain is just icing on the cake. So your comment "to expensive for nothing" is all relative. With that said thank you for not choosing the Shaker it makes my car that much more unique.

My vote-No scoop. Buy a new hood that you like.

I'm not going to bash anyone's decision about any options they purchase or mods that they decide to perform. To each his own....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....so on and so forth. Honestly, I don't understand why some people are so eager to voice their utter hatred for scoops...functional or not. Maybe deep down they feel a need to justify not purchasing the GTAP....

To me, the scoop does serve a purpose....it gives the car character by making it look more aggressive. I think it was tastefully done too....its not garish or too over the top.

BTW....I just picked up my Vista Blue GT/CS vert yesterday. I love the way the hood scoop looks. I like the side scoops even more....then there are the racing foils on the rear bumper.....oh and that rear spoiler. Lets not forget those "non-functional" GT/CS stripes..... Hmmmmm....I hope I'm not forgetting to mention any more of those "non-functional" items on my car that make it look so bad-***.

 

 

Bottom line, I don't care either way...scoop or no scoop. My car looks better, to me, with a scoop. I'm sitting here borred to death at work until I deploy overseas on the 31st. If I see that this thread is simmering down...I have to add a little more wood to the fire. Keeps me busy.

 

Dude, relax man. Take a chill pill. I think if I had the extra money laying around I would do the shaker scoop since it looks unique. I love Mustangs with hood scoops...functional, non-functional, expensive, etc. I think it gives the Mustang the look it deserves...

That's absolutely WRONG!!!! If a non-scooper was regretting not getting the scoop or a CS, they probably would have just purchased one from Ford or the aftermarket by now.
