honest opinions on 22 inch wheels

Take a chill pill, spiderman. I made the comment about the edit button because you are obviously new here and don't know how to edit your own post. Double-posting is frowned upon by moderators and others because it takes up space in the threads and some take advantage of it to rack up posts.
Don't question you? I will question you and comment on your car all I want. If you can't take the critisism, don't put up pictures of your car.
I can't come up with anything different? I have yet to see another member of this site with a mineral grey GT with black racing stripes. And if I do, it will be very rare. I surely won't see one in person ever. And yes, I have vinyl (not vinal) racing stripes. I will have them painted on eventually, but that's not the point. I also will be molding on a hood scoop from a '65 Shelby. In 20 years, I'll be one of 20 (if that) '05 Mustangs in existience with that setup. In 20 years, about a thousand '05 Mustangs will have 20"+ wheels and a two-tone paint scheme (one member of this site already has a two-tone '05 with yellow on top like yours). I have (and will continue to) added many cosmetic touches that makes my car unique, while still keeping it retro.
And by the way, I'll never respect a Mustang with 22" wheels. That's my right though. Everyone I know with Mustangs feels the same exact way as I do. A couple of them have much stronger feelings on this subject than me and would actually follow a Mustang with 22" wheels home and make sure that they weren't on it in the morning. I can knock your 22" wheels all day and night, bro. But you knocking bullitt wheels and Shelby stripes just makes yorself look like a fool. Why don't you take the pony off the grill and put a chrome spider on it (I don't want to be giving you ideas here) and then flame me for having a horse on my Mustang.

1. I am sorry but to complain about what someone else is doing to their mustang basically proves you dont know what owning a mustang is all about.
2. Racing stripes and a hood scoop will never be "original" on a mustang. You are copying another mustang simply by doing all of that. How is that original again? Not to say I dont like it because I do, I like it very much and your probably right about being one of the few 05's in that color combo to do that. Which is the point of modding the exterior of your car.
3. Remember that saying you dont like it is different than saying it shouldnt be done, its honestly not up to you or anyone else to decide what shouldnt and shouldnt be done. Not to long ago people would have scoffed at putting 17's on a classic, now its common. To mod the exterior appearance of a classic was once unknown, now we basically have full on hot rod classic mustangs with custom sheetmetal and interiors.
I will never knock someone for trying something, its not my place. I dont mind offering an opinion but I will do it in a respectful manner.
One2gamble, you are a hypocrite. You are knocking me for my stripes and hood scoop, yet I can't knock the dude for 22" wheels and airbags on a Mustang? Come on now. Think whatever you will, but "copying" a '65/'66 Shelby is perfectly fine in my book. I just don't jump on the ricer and tuner bandwagons like some of you obviously do. I am old school Mustang. And of course all of you aren't going to share my views, but I know I sure don't like 22" wheels on a muscle car. It's absolutely pointless and defeats the purpose IMO.
And Jessica, I am not generalizing Mustang fans. I think you misunderstood me. I said that everyone I know feels the same way I do. Sorry, but 22" wheels are still rice, IMO. Rice has nothing to do with how fast the car can go. You can take a Honda Civic and put a wide body kit on it, slam it to the ground and put 20" wheels on it, a huge wing and a 6" pipe... it could have twin turbos and nitrous and beat me up and down in a race. That's still rice.
Wheels don't make a car. And neither does the transmission. Anyone who would judge a car on the owner's driving preference is just ignorant. That's a heck of a lot worse than me judging a car on it's wheels.

Jessica, I am glad you said you still like my car. I was about to cry there for a minute.
So I see another thread has been hit with the flamethrower. Guys, we all do up our cars the way we see fit. Some people like them, some people hate them. I too may bring my car to a car show someday but I still do whatever I want to do to the car. Yes, there is a fine line between tasteful and repulsive but everyone has their own opinions on what that line is. I heard some people say they like the looks of a whale-tail spoiler on the stang. I say those people should receive the death penalty. That doesn't mean they shouldn't do it.
A lot of people are sick of seeing bullit rims, which is why I bought the upgrade rims. Well now I have Torq Thrust II rims so some people say I am a hypocrit. Well not really. The TT II's look different that the ones that come with the stang and personally I think the standard 5 spoke rims such as bullits make this car look great. 22's on a stang, not for me. On an SUV, maybe. Point is, I am not going to tell someone they shouldn't do it. I have seen some cars that have them and they look good. It all depends on the rim you choose.
The thing that is really starting to p!ss me off is mustang fans fighting with mustang fans. I had a guy in an 05 GT, with no mods give me the finger on my way to work yesterday because his girlfriend (or wife) pointed over to my car. Jealous, who knows, but I at least know now not to bother stopping him to ask him how he likes his car. Apparently he likes mine better
:ranting: well that was my rant....back at it guys

And you will not find one true Mustang fan who disagrees with that statement.
I agree with John, ultimately, the saddest part of this whole issue is Mustang fans, fighting with Mustang fans... as I said in another thread, lets just all hold hands and sing Kumbaya!
John, come out to Cali, I want a ride in that bad hiney car!

Im not knocking you, I said I like the way it looks and like the idea. I simply questioned your definition of original. Like I said, I enjoy the many different styles of mustangs simply because thats what makes the car so great.

oh and one more thing, one of my favorite quotes of all time and bobby will back my on this one
"YOU LAUGH AT US BECAUSE WE ARE DIFFERENT
WE LAUGH AT YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME"

OK, I was perfectly content to read and watch this thread and stay out the fray, but this quote cracks me up. You say we laugh at you because you are different??? I checked out the Vertically Challenged website and the one thing I noticed is how your cars all look the same (TO ME!!!). All dropped, all sporting big a** wheels, and "custom" vinyl or paint. Maybe we are laughing for other reasons entirely.
Putting on my flameproof suit now.
Nick, I find that when a thread starts giving me a headache I stop reading it.
Jessica, I find the english language amazing. Take out one simple word and you get a completely different meaning from the sentence...
"I want a ride in that bad hiney car!". Now take out the word car
Sorry, just trying to add some humour to this, now, pointless thread.

Witty, and drives a sexy car...
I almost closed this a couple times.. But, I do agree that people need to get thier opnions heard, and a good debate is good for the soul. The original poster wanted HONEST opinions, he is getting them. Some are a little rougher about the way they are stating them, but, its what he wanted!
I do wish we could stop with the insinuations and attacking nature of some of the posting, but I have to earn my c/t somehow! LOL

No! No! Not yes it does look good! Yes it means they shouldn't do it!
Jessica, I apologize. I went back and thought I read my posts and didn't see anything regarding Mustang fans in general. But I obviously missed that. I don't assume to know any group of people as a whole. I think I was trying to say the ones I know, at least personally. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my first post, I just stated mine. I didn't expect the guy to get so defensive. Nothing on here is worth screaming and having a fit over. But what are you going to do? As for Nick who told me to shut up... if you don't like the thread, don't read it. Or better yet, read it but skip over any of my posts. And as far as your headache, Excedrin works well for that.
Hey, Ian, I really appreciate you owning that statement, and apologizing. One of the reasons I have always liked you babe! (I need a kissy smilie.. Braaaaaaadddd)
Now, c'mon admit you would love to throw some 24s on your ride, drop it like 3", and the Boy Racer wing... dont forget some undercariage lights! You know you secretly do... its ok.
I am SO KIDDING! Friends still? ::MUAH:: Come out with John, I want to ride in your car too,
We all agree that if a thread is giving you a headache then you need to not click on it!

Jessica, you have made me want to make a kinder, gentler TMS, what can I say? All is good in love and Mustangs. I think everyone knows now how I feel about 24" wheels though (except maybe on a Hummer), but thanks for the smile.
