GA Laws (corners and tint)
GA Laws (corners and tint)
Could anybody tell me if clear turn signals are legal in Georgia. It seems to me that they would be as long as the bulbs are colored but i just want to make sure. Also, where would be a good place to buy them? And finally, what is the legal limit for tint in GA and how bad is it if you get caught with too dark of a tint?
i can tell you for sure that if you keep orange bulbs in there you are legal
putting in clear lenses and orange bulbs doesnt change anything as far as the law is concerned,
they dont care what color the markers are when they are not on.. as long as your not imitating an officer.... if that makes any sense

Ya that helps a lot. I just didnt want to spend the money and then it only cost me more money for a ticket. I think that may be my next (first) mod for my pony. Does anyone know about the tint?

Here's the Cliff Notes version of O.C.G.A. 40-8-73.1: 32% visible light transmission plus or minus 3%. This means that tint darker than 29% VLT is in violation. Most of the folks who get caught on this are at 5% VLT or less. You can't even see the driver on a sunny day at that level of darkness.
O.C.G.A. 40-8-26 does not expressly prohibit clear turn signal or marker light lenses but it does state that they "shall meet manufactorer's specifications." Also, the signal light cannot "project a glaring or dazzling light."
People run afoul of this by putting blue or red bulbs behind their clear lenses. Amber will keep you out of trouble.
