Flat black spolier
SATIN SPOILER
I took mine off, prepped it and used a spray can to paint it.
Prepped it by washing with DAWN and a scotchbrite pad to get rid of wax and dirt. Scotchbrite pad roughed up surface a little to give the paint something to "bite".
Used fishing line on one of the studs and hung it from the rafters of garage.
Painted my CDC spoiler the same way.

I bought a gloss black take-off for mine, pulled it off after about 6 Mo, sanded down with 400 grit & sprayed it with Krylon satin black last fall. Been through 1 winter & is my DD. Still looks good & has held up well. Even if I have to repaint it once a year or every 2 years, cost was about 5.00 + my labor.

I just painted mine last weekend, and my hood yesterday with a rattle can. How does it hold up through a wash? I want to bring it through a car wash today, but I'm scared my freshly rattled hood/spoiler will no longer be painted by the time I get to the other end of the car wash.
I went the rattle can route as well. Over a year now with no problems. Take your time and prep the spoiler properly before you paint and you will be fine. Dang Aircare great minds must think alike....

My hood/ spoiler get terrible water stains when I wash them and don't dry fast enough. Is it a good idea to clear it, or will that be bad for a satin finish? I kind of want to clear it just so it's even, but if it messes with the paint, then I'll turn my OCD off and leave it alone.

Anybody put clear over their flat paint?
pinstripe
Nice job. Even the same pinstripe.I had at first a 1/8", it was too small, now have 1/4".
cntchds,
I didn't use any clear over mine.
All I did was wipe the spoiler down with naphtha I got from Lowes. It is great on removing oils and waxes from painted surfaces without hurting the clearcoat. Rubbing alcohol works great too. Next I wiped it down with a tack cloth. Then I sprayed the semi gloss black directly onto the spoiler. No primer or sanding. Let it dry for 24 hrs. or so before installing it back onto the rear decklid. It has been almost two years and the paint looks like it did when I first painted it. I used semi gloss black instead of flat black because over time flat black will turn a charcoal/greyish color and the semi gloss also matched the Astra Hammond louver finish and the SHR blackout panel finish better too. I also used the same paint for the hood treatment and the piece just above the front spoiler. Good luck and post some pics when you get it done.
