I just ordered two Terlingua Racing Team decals that I would like to put on the body of my 05 (I painting the car a deep blue with a three stripe design up the middle and "GT350" on the rocker panels). I am hoping to make a car that is an ode to the Terlingua Racing Team Mustangs.
Anyway, what is the best way to put on the decals so that they don't fade or come off? Or, are fading and peeling inevitable? Since I am having the car painted, is there something that they can do like apply the decals before the last clearcoat to offer protection?[attachmentid=11120]

You can actually have the decals clearcoated before they are applied. They just apply a light coating to them for protection. I don't think I would apply them to the car and clearcoat over everything. You would be screwed if you didn't like the way they looked.
Also there are only 2 trouble zones on the decal above. Both top corners where they are a 90 degree angle. After they have been installed but a small thin coat of clear on those corners and they will never lift. If you remove the decal later on you can wet sand the small traces of clear and then polish the paint. Nobody would ever know

no problem, now if only I used the word "put" instead of "but" that would have made a little more sense.
Another little tidbit of information. If you do not clear the decals before applying them, make sure whoever installs them uses a felt applicator pad to prevent scratches. If they use the standard plastic squeegee your decal, and paint, will be full of permanent scratches.

A Terlingua tribute car, I dig it!
Good advice Adrenalin. If it were me, I'd just order 6 or 8 decals and replace them if they get ratty. Seems like a cheap, easy solution to me.![Dunno](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Have you considered a front-clip stripe like the Dallas Mustang Terlingua car?

I hear ya. You know what would also be really cool? The hood, fender-top blackout treatment that the Trans Am Mustangs had...
