I haven't heard anything about this, so here goes. On the upgraded V6 rims, can you get the spinners to actually spin on their own? I know the ones on my car are kind of stuck in place unless you move them yourself. Not sure if they move when I drive since I can't see myself, but I would guess not. Has anyone put some kind of lubricant like WD-40 on them to get them to spin freely, or would this be a bad idea (I don't know if the stuff would react with the spinners or the wheels or something like that).

They have to fit tight enough not to fall out on their own so I don't believe they will ever spin.In fact they don't move at all unless you turn them.I aligned one of the points at the valve stem on all 4 of mine and they haven't moved since.

I may be wrong, but I always thought they were really simulations of the old knock off style wheels used on race cars. The wings on the spinner were there to facilitate a quick wheel change. The original racing wheels had no lug nuts, just a single "spinner" that retained the wheel to the car.

So, long story short - they were never intended to "spin".

I was just checking. i thought it might be kind of cool if they did spin, but now that you mention that about them being replicas of the old style wheels, it makes more sense for them not to.

DOH! of course they do, along with the wheel. Didn't think about that. I should have said what I meant instead of saying what I thought I meant.

Spinners give the appearance of spinning in the opposite direction as the wheel when driving. I've got spinners on my '65. They do look like the old knock off style race wheels, too.

Do they spin easily, as in if you took an electric fan and put it next them would they spin? If so, did they do that when you put them on or did you have to do anything to get them to do that?

They shouldn't "spin". They just give an illusion of spinning opposite to the wheel when driving. That's why they have the little wings on them.
