There will also be a conversion kit for those of us who already have the Series VI.

What about water ingress during a downpour? Looks like the rain would splash off the hood and enter directly into the scoop. You can clearly see the green air filter through the scoop opening,
http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/News...C_1056_JPG.htm
so rain would likely soak the filter and then get sucked into the S/C, wouldn't it? I presume saleen has thought of this and has it addressed, but I wonder how???

A number that meets, or exceeds, my specifications.

I e-mailed Saleen a with the following questions:
1. Will the Shaker mount in the same location as the CDC Shaker so that those with the CDC Shaker can upgrade?

2. Could a version of this system be used to make a factory scoop functional?

3. Will Saleen offer a non-supercharged version of the Shaker for people on a budget? (It would have to use a smaller MAF sensor and possibly a tune.)

This is their reply:
  • I cant comment on the placement of our shaker as opposed to the CDC shaker. I believe it should be about the same place though as we have replaced a CDC shaker with a PJ shaker on a special projects car.
  • Doubtful, and I don’t believe we have any plans to try this at the current time. The kit will likely only be available with the option to cut a hole in your current hood and use our shaker.
  • We are working on releasing the shaker from the PJ car so we probably will have that available in the near future.

Although the answers quoted above from Saleen indicates the Stock scoop couldn't be used, I should think this is a standard answer, they want you to buy their stuff. I would think any crafty fellow could do it with the right design for a flexable plenum between the stock scoop and the Saleen filter box.

I took a couple pics of this yesterday, it replaces the top section of the supercharger.

Looks like they move the MAF to just behind the red section, and the throttle body just to the right of that. Interesting, but I would want some kind of seal with the hood to keep rain out, etc.

WOW. That set up is amazing. I might just continue saving and not get a CAI/tune now and go with this kit. I would also be concerned about water seeping in around the shaker and into the engine bay and also the exposed filter. I hope this was a sema setup and not the final version. It needs to be functional for daily drivers! Saleen has found a winner with this product.

This really excites me...

"this is probably the best sounding blower we've heard. The direct path into the blower , then to the outside world REALLY makes this supercharger sound incredible, you can hear the supercharger whine like whoa standing on the curb."

I am sure that the "Shakercharger" is just a prototype for the show. The production version should have a rubber seal like all the other Skakers on the market.

i have a shaker and i dont know what "rubber seal" your referring to.

there is no buffer between the shaker and the hood, its open for rain to fall onto the shroud and then it drains out each corner.

any rain taken into the intake via the shaker just routes down into the airbox and puddles or drains out the stock airbox. there is no filtering of the rain from the air until the stock filter.

its going to be hard to keep the filter dry on the shakercharger system, there is no real way around it.

Looks like the filter is well ahead of the scoop, hence, any rain will be thrown back past the filter and allowed to drain near the rear of the scoop.
