car & driver gets first drive of new cobra
My point is that the GT500 is a performance car, supposedly the ultimate Mustang. It's not going to get milage comparable to a regular GT or whatever. It's all about performance and if you want this type of car then crappy gas milage is one of the things you will just have to deal with.
re: environmental issues, more "greenhouse" gasses are emitted by one major volcanic eruption than have been emitted by every internal combustion engine ever run in the history of man combined. So how about some volcano taxes here?
(don't believe it? How do you think this planet got an atmosphere in the first place? Gasses that seperated out as rocks in the core and mantle cooled escaped during eruptions, carrying water vapor, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and all sorts of other things into the sky.)

What do you think the 500 in GT500 stands for

Correct me if im wrong, but shelby named his cars the gt350 because it was the plant was 350 feet away from his office or something like that. And the gt500 because "it is a bigger number than 350"

Dang, what did I start when I asked about the gas guzzler tax. I wasn't complaing about the gas mileage, all I wanted to know was how much that would add to the price of the car. Geez, people, breath, relax. It's a tax, stop complaining. You pay taxes on everything, more on some things then other, stop complaining. If you don't want to pay taxes, move to an uninhabited island.
...and the Car and Driver article said what about the GT500? (Haven't got a clue from this post yet).

No no, the Eaton is not a twin screw.... Eaton makes roots type blowers... and why the heck they switched from a screw to a roots, I'll never know. Sorry Eaton, but your blowers just aren't efficient. It's not like its any cheaper to put a roots blower on it either.
A screw is te only way to go, IMO.
Whoever made the comment about getting to 600 hp by switching to a screw... not quite that simple. I wish it were... but if you want to get that high with just the blower, you're going to have to push more than 10 psi, and the engine will probably not handle that kind of pressure. There may be ways to tweak the motor to ring another 100 hp.... but it's not gonna happen with a swap from roots to screw.

03 Cobra can Make 600 hp with a twin screw, why could't the GT based 5.4L?
366 stock + 251 = 617 @ 21 psi*
366 stock + 290 = 656 @ 25 psi
366 stock + 335 = 701 @ 26 psi with throttle body, exhaust and headers

clintoris,
Car and Driver says the Lysholm(the company that makes the twin screw for the GT)can not produce enough superchargers for the Shelby. They also said that the Lysholm is more expensive.O'connell says that the switch was dictated by availability, rather than price though. The roots does give a better midrange where the Lysholm has more top end, personally im not gonna be able to top this car out anywhere near me.
