Latest update (as of today, 12-04-04):
According to "John", one of the white/leopard mules seen by Amy does indeed have the big 5.4 S/C in it. The other one is (he thinks) is still a 4.6 liter 3 valve blower developmental motor but with forged internals. It does have a blower but he's not sure if it's a twin screw or a roots style - he believes it was a roots style. He hasn't seen the smaller engined (4.6)white car in a couple of weeks and he says he was told it's back inside the complex for more mods, most likely to get the 5.4 S/C installed for more testing.
Also, more news just relayed today - Supposedly, there is a black '05 GT-badged Cobra Mule with Manufacturing plates that does get out on the streets occasionally that is nearly the finished product, drivetrain wise (it has the 5.4 supercharged motor and the HD 6-speed). I was told that you would not recognize it at first as anything different than another black GT unless you listen closely to hear the blower whine and the exhaust note (which he said is very similar to the GT since they are using essentially the stock GT exhaust on the streetable Mules for additional cloaking. This car has run consistent 12.1X's @120-121mph on drag radials in 'stock' form. He claims to have seen the time slips.
Also, he said that the black mule has 17's with 'slightly larger than stock' GT tires on it when on the streets so it's not too conspicuous. It has a factory appearing hood that has a slight more raise to it in the middle, again to not be conspicuous. The hood BARELY clears the blower and hardware when shut. He claims to have seen this car twice in the last week and that it was recently dyno'd - in his presence - with slightly over 400 RWHP!!! Supposedly, there have been at least two other dyno runs with 5.4 S/C mules, both of which were similar. More tuning will be done before official release with the 400 rwhp mark being the low target. No mention as to the high target.
He further stated there is indeed a Redfire Mule with the Hurricane based motor in it but that he thought that that car has not been seen lately in his area. He did say he thought it was going to get one of the few 5.4 S/C motors in it if not already being done. He also thought a silver one that has been seen out and about occasionally has been (or is being) changed over to a 5.4 SC motor. He was not positive about that; only that it was slated to happen in the last 2 weeks or so.
Again, "John" seems to be on the up and up - he definitely seems to know his way around SVT. He also claims to have met Mr. Tang personally and that Mr. Tang is adamant about pushing the Cobra through as soon as possible. He said that, the mood at SVT is very upbeat and everyone seems to be excited about the new Cobra and Mr. Tang's taking over the role of leader.
We'll just have to wait and see. When (or if) I get more ino, I'll certainly post it here.

maybe. IMO the best way to go for Ford is have the
GT w/ NA 4.6
SE #1 w/ SC 4.6
SE#2 w/ NA 5.4
SE#3 (cobra most likely) SC 5.4
for the other two SEs who knows, Shelby? Boss? Mach? perhaps Bullitt? heck we may even get a King Cobra with some real power!

For now, he thinks that the 4.6 S/C was an earlier concept (that had a lot of support) for the potential Cobra Motor. He does think it's possible it will show up in an SE but for now, the 4.6 SC is on the back burner from he can find out.
As far as the Silver GT, the only thing he told me was that there was indeed a Silver 'GT'/Mule (he didn't know for certain about the rim size) that was due in recently for a motor upgrade to a 5.4 S/C. That was all he could say about it.
Unless Tang changes directions - which is highly unlikely since he's supposed to be an avid supporter of the 5.4 S/C motor - there is a SLIGHT possibility we may see the Cobra sooner than the '07M/Y but by how much, he did not know.
Supposedly, more concrete info (released to the media) regarding dates and specs should be available very soon. SVT wants to generate excitement about their product - not just suspicion or rumor. This makes sense to me.

I suppose they'll wanna build up excitement, but they won't wanna disappoint either, so i'm guessing they'll give some toned down specs, maybe they'll just say over 400hp. For people who don't frequent this forum and have their hopes built up for at least 450, that'll still sound pretty big, and then they'll knock people's socks off when the car is actually released. Either way, i'm really liking where this is going.

Maybe we'll see or hear something at the Detroit show.

I have to dissagree.
I think all we're going to see is the convertible and nothing more.

That would be dissapointing considering GM will be showing the Z06. I hope Ford brings something new.

Eh.....that's what I thought at first, but if Ford wants to get it out sometime in the 06MY, they might want to show a car that hints at the upcoming cobra.....although, there is the GTR.
I'm sure of one thing, you won't see an SE.
