Sorry to here that Mike. I got my thermal adhesive stuff from Jegs 24"x36" cost $60. The stuff kinda reminds me of dynomat.

I'm kind of an extremist when it comes to my car, thats why it takes me twice as long to do something. I took my time, after applying the thermal stuff I spent a long time using a roller on it. I had visions of the stuff falling off.

Only one thing to do, is to take the hood back off and do it over.

Happy T Day

Why the Heat Shield

Just my 2 cents.....
I did not put heat shield on my WMS air box. If you think about all the cooler front air coming in from the grill directly to the filter in such a short area over a plastic panel any insulation would be worthless.

My 06 GT ran fine with the WMS set up stock....I went with the tune only to enhace it a bit and program the trans shifting.

JDM did the tune and at their customer apprecaiation day on Nov 3rd
1st time out at Raceway park it 13.303 at 103.97 mph.
Did it twice with almost identical runs with regular tires.

Thinking about a Saleen S/C this winter.

Why add something that might make you worry ?

The thermal adhesive insulation adheres to the bottom of the ram hood.
From your statement above it reads as though your thinking the thermal insulation is applied on the top of the hood area, which is not the case.

The insulation is installed to keep the high heat off the ram hood between the back of the radiator and front area of the engine. Which it does very well if applied properly.

Anyway you look at it the WMS is a nice system.

I did understand you correctly that you applied the insulation to the bottom of the ram air box (not hood) but if you think about the physics of air movement involved the only time the under box insulation would be of any benefit you be when the vehicle is standing still or at very slow speed (less then 5 mph).

I like the system very much and I think it looks even better with the Saleen S/C.

Cool love mine

I put a WMS intake on last summer , and I love it . I didnt tune mine though , didnt want to . I did however make my ram air hood functional with the intake , it only took a few hours and man was it worth it .

I get comments everywhere we go , and I just love the look of that intake in combo with the hood . I did a post awhile back , if anyone can find it . The pics are sweet .

Well you have to sand it first to rough it up and then clean with alcohol and it will say on. I used a hard roller on it also.

Well, I figured it would stiffen the plastic and keep it from warping from the engine heat in the long term. I sanded it, washed it, and didn't put the film on for a few weeks, so it certainly wasn't wet. I didn't even think of wiping it down with alcohol or I'd have done that. Since the stuff was supposedly made for that kind of application, I didn't think I had anything to worry about. Hindsight is a lot clearer.

I think the tune made far more of difference than the filter change, and I have a manual trans.
