truer words were never spoken, other than what Adrenalin just posted up: I went to a car show once and a guy looked at my wife and said "You must be Mrs. Understanding."

I am in day 3 with my new Borla axle back system and am more impressed with it's sound than day 1. Started it after work today with a guy next to me and all he said was WOWWWWWW! when it started. Find myself using the gas pedal more when passing a bowtie with their window down. I'm sick!!!

It gets better
With age, it gets louder/meaner...

Also, thing to try (to make sure your exhaust is working properly )
When getting on a highway near a housed area....windows down.....
...proceed to get onto thus highway bring it at LEAST to 3rd @ 5000+RPM...
hold it for a couple seconds...and see how many people you can:

1) Tick off
2) make smile
3) windows you can shatter
4) Figure out what nascar engine it sounds like

I put on my axle backs today and all I can say is that it is exactly the sound that I was looking for. I haven't tried WOT yet but I will when I get a chance!

Is there a big sound difference between the borla axleback system and the cat back system? Looks like you guys love both. I have the moeny for the catback, just wondering if theres a real diff in sound and performance. I know theres more parts in the cat back then the axle back but my main question is there a bigg diff in sound?

You know I can't tell you the answer to your question but the Mustang already has 2.5 inch mandrel bent tubing from the cats back so I didn't pop for the extra money! I'm not saying that it is a mistake to buy the cat backs but I'm liking the axle backs and they seem pretty sound to me!

Hey GT5000
I can't say if the cat back sounds any different than the axle back. I would think they would sound the same. The cat back is all I could find to buy. All of the axle backs were out of stock and on back order

I'm almost postive that the axle-backs and cat-backs sound EXACTLY the same. The main difference is your car will look prettier with the cat-back but you'll save quite a bit with the axle-back.

I would have got the cat-back if I thought the sound would be louder/meaner, even for the extra dough. I really feel you are fine with the axle-back if you get get your hands on one.

Pete, I really didn't notice any difference (unlike what many have claimed with the magnaflows)..................... Of course, that's ignoring the fact that they seemed to get quietier because I was used to them

One thing is for sure, they are WAY WAY louder behind the car than inside the car

Agreed...then again... I have over 10,000k on my borla's

hahah

Prettier with the axleback?
How many times are YOU LOOKing at your midlength pipes going "I wish they were prettier "

The midlength pipes probably have one or 2 less bends...than the stock system.
Not worth it in my opinion...personally

any of you have the borla axle backs with an o/r H pipe? I'd be curious as to the sound of this set up? would it be to loud? if so, would it be worth the power gain?

Well, my Borla axlebacks are being shipped to me from CA on Friday, hoping to sweet talk the boyfriend into installing them next weekend, assuming they are here in time. I have always wanted Borla, but never had the money with my two previous stangs. I can't wait to hear it!

Ok now I am conused. According to the website I got them from, there is a 50 state legal kit for noise, and one labeled Loud. Which one does everyone else have, because I apparently got the legal one, and have always known Borla to be quite loud.

Theres more than one?

There should be only 2 kits....
One is catback, the other is axleback...
both have the EXACT same mufflers/tips... (S-Type Mufflers.... or used to be called Stingers)
