ran into a problem.
it was about 8:30 this morning. it was cold and i see that the ground had residue of rock salt from a couple days ago. the ground was also cold from the low temp outside.anyway my concern was getting traction in these condition. a few weeks ago i remember flooring the gas and it being cold outside early in the morning and the car fish tailed like crazy. anyway getting back to the race w/ the WS6 the light turned green and i floored it and my car just completely burned rubber and
fish tailed sideways.
i noticed right before the light turned green that the WS6 started to
roll a little bit and he didnt spin. by the time i got out of the hole it was too late. the question i have if i start a race with traction control and when i get up to say 4000 and i turn it off will that make a difference? i was really hoping for a close race. with my new tune i should be in 13.3-13.4 range.

your problem is you floored it and dumped the clutch. Next time get your rpms up around the 2300 mark then let out the clutch, then floor it. At least that's my guess. On another note, why were you street racing in the first place? Save it for the track.

Does traction control slow you down in a race?

Traction control takes power away from the rear wheels when they loose traction.
Yes! It will slow you down if you jump on it enought to brake em free. This is espicially common when running the 1/4 or racing from a stop, not only will the cars ECU take power away on the launch it will also take it away as you work through the first 3 gears, that is if you are able to bark your tires while shifting through them.
NO! If you start a race from a higher speed, say a 50mph+ roll, it really wouldn't matter if traction control is on or not. At that speed if you floor it chances are you won't brake your tires free.

um i have a question for you... in your sig it says this:
5/27/05 had my JLT kit installed w/ better tune from JDM
new dyno #'sW/O SPACER 293hp/315 tq
1/4 mile --?
12/13/05 - w/ spacer 290hp/310tq- even better tune
now how do those numbers make sense... WITH the spacer and better tune you made LESS power? am i reading this right?

It would appear he removed the TB spacer when he got re-tuned.

I eat SS Camero's and WS6's for lunch all the time. Really though, it's usually pretty close but I tend to pull on them pretty hard in third... that's if they are stock, as for all the highly modded cars running around here; I don't even mess with them.
Yeah, you just got a bad launch, you would have took him if you launched good. Turn the TC off, launch about 2200rpm and feather it till your getting a good hook up, then mash the hammer. Bye Bye WS6! Of course it's different for every car but it works for me.
Not that I promote any kind of street racing. :nono:

And not to mention the fact the conditions... I just wouldn't bother with even the tameest stoplight romp in those conditions (cold, poor traction, etc...) But that's just me
