If I would have known that the camera was running i could have pushed the car a little harder!!

Great vid!
Looks like you guys were going about 6 or 7/10ths. The Lotus could have easily overtaken you in the corners. Those little buggers are freaking amazing when driven at 9 and 10/10ths with R compound tires. I nearly lost my lunch once on a certification drive in one of those Lotus'. We were taking corners at speeds you could never dream of if you were in a Mustang. Just amazing.
There is simply no contest against a Vette on the track.
BTW, what track are you guys running at?

I don't know about that. The guy in the lotus was pushing pretty hard, the mustang ate it on any straight areas. There was definetly room for more, but that mustang was flying.

If only that were so. Unfortunately, that Elise could have eaten up the mustang if it so desired. Not only does it sprint to sixty in 4.6, it has over 1G of lateral grip. On a track, there aren't many things that can beat it. Luckily for us, Mustangs are cooler and more practical. But I wouldn't mess with one where ANY corners are involved.

Athough I don't think this is a fair comparison....it is fun to watch!

I had an Elise pull up on me about 6 months ago. I gave the to the guy, telling him nice car ( I really like these). He was a royal A$$!! No back, no nod, nothing. I wasn't looking for anything in regards to a run (IMO, that stuff should be done ON THE TRACK!!), so I pulled away like I normally do (in the throttle a bit, but not CRAZY). Next thing I know, that Elise is next to me, and he is GONE!! Funny about it, it sounded like an F1 car when it passed me. Sounded like he had something on it, either a S/C or a turbo. Anyway, that car left like a bat outta you know. These cars are crazt quick, considering they weigh just over 2,000 lbs. I'll take one in Lazer Blue!!

The Lotus Elise actually isn't TOO expensive... I thought about buying one instead of the Mustang, but the Stang's exterior was far more appealing and I can get the Stang on X-Plan along with decent priced parts. I don't want to deal with Euro-prices in the US!

Your right about the price. The 1st year Elise in the US was in the low $40K range with no options. Even if you went all out and got the hardtop, and packages, it still didn't clear $50K. Now, the 2006 they got a little pricer. At Rothrocks in Springfield, PA, they had 10 Elises (mostly '05s with a few '06s). I can only imagine that they were willing to deal on the leftovers. Plus in the showroom, a brand new Exige!!

thanks for the comments, lets see......
mid america motorplex ( see link in my sig )
new pricing to come
last year it was $75 for a full day i think its going down
the guy in the lotus is an exelent driver he is one of our instructors
we were taking it easy 7 10ths or so
that day ac had his gsd3 supercar tires on and i had my mx's on
he couldn catch me without the r compounds on.
with them he gets me by about 4/5 seconds per lap.( i havent run r's on my car yet)
for thoes of you who think it was staged it wasnt
the s 197s corner hard( mine is frpp equipped )
as far as the vette goes the new 400 hp cars kill me on the straights but i can hang with them in the corners and the older c 5s are pretty easy to keep up to as long as it not a Z06.( im bone stock under the hood)
yes its a toyota motor ( it revs to 9k )
ill put up more vids as i get them this spring
i got myself a hi-def video camera thats small enough to mount in the car

Yeah, I know its the celica 4-cylinder motor, bumped to 190 hp, but the sound this thing made led me to believe that he had some power booster bolted onto the motor. I've heard stock Elises before, and this one didn't sound stock, trust me.

Awesome! The Stang held its own against the Elise, even if not all out. Without that FRPP kit on the Mustang, he would have had you in the first corner probably.
