Spark plugs and coil packs?

Ok guys on my 05 mustang gt I have one coil going bad and a 2nd one acting up... Should I up grade to the weapon x coils? Stay stock? Or use a kenne bell booster a spark? My mods are a Procharger sc-1, cryokit, and a few other little things... Right now I have ome plugs and coils.
Thanks!

Stay with the OEM coils, they are very reliable and perform better then most aftermarket. If you run a blower you should upgrade your plugs to one heatrange colder. I am running the Brisk Racing plugs and love them I had no issues with them since install. I also have the boost-a-spark but at 9psi it does not really help anything, save your money.

Nah, we had it on the dyno be fore and after, no difference, just maybe a little better resonse on the bottom but nothing worth writing home about.

Quick Question, how do you know and test for bad coil packs? I.e. can you pull them and test with an Ohm meter? I've tried data logging via my SCT x3, just not enough info on the internet to interpret the data after the pull.
I’ve been trying to hunt down ping at high RPM… Yes, I’ve had spark pulled by the tuner… Any more I’d have to start to wonder if I’m back to stock… LOL

Get any codes? Sometimes just swapping the coils around to a different plug may straighten it out. I know it sounds wierd but sometimes it really works

Please allow me to interject. Aftermarket coil packs won't offer any gains unless you widen the spark plug gap to take advantage of the extra voltage. My '07 GT had a Vortech V2 pushing 11 psi. I went with colder plugs (copper FRPP 3V0's), but still had spark blowout (at .045" gap). Gapped them down to .028" and the car ran better. Added GMS 45K volt coils (vs the stock 20K volt stockers) and the car went nominally quicker. Widened the spark plug gap back to .045" and my car ran its best ever at the dragstrip consistenly and put down more power on the dyno. I documented all of my changes at length at S197forums.com last fall if you want to search there for details. Ultimately, if you're chasing more power, aftermarket coils are great in blower cars with a wide enough spark gap. Sure, they fail more often than stockers, but many offer great warranties (i.e. GMS has a lifetime warranty).
