Do the 5.0 and the steeda make the shifts smoother at all? That's what I'm looking for I don't really care about how short the throw is.

It's smooth enough for me. Not as "jerky" as the original equipment. Shorter throws make it smoother.

The install is pretty easy. I managed it myself in about 1.5 hours. Don't drop the driveshaft, just remove/install the shifter thru the hole from inside the car. I didn't stop to take really detailed pix, but here's some of the Pro5.0 install:

I assembled mine in two pieces, the arm and the body (with the two allen screws).. while under the car. It ws quick and painless.

use locktite on the shift linkage and rear mount bolts and the tranny mount bolt...

Where do you live Gary, maybe I can help you install it.? (i'm in Los Angeles)
Thanks 06 but ummm...unless your in the mood to make a trip to the great Ft. Lauderdale area that's gonna be hard . I should be fine, I have not done any of this type of work on a car but so far with the help of these forums everything has been easy. Hell I don't even have the shifter yet (maybe I should head over to Steeda tomorrow morning)

Maybe not, I am doing my X-Pipe install this weekend all though since I will be under there already maybe it would be worth it.

Thanks for the pics Tom, very helpful to see it.

Hey Tom, very nice ride man and great pics for the shifter. I'm still holding off to see what MGW comes up with. By the way I see your located in Indiana, what part? I'm in Illinois and have made trips out to Indiana in the past.

Hey Stoenr, how you doin'?

Probably don't need two people, for sure don't need a hoist. I recommend just jackstands, a creeper, and bud light to make sure you stay replenished !

good, thanks.

Yeah some cold ones tend to make the job go a little better.
I work at a Goodyear, my pops does too, thought it would be a good thing for us to do together.

The Pro50 comes with great instructions. It is really an easy install if you take your time to read and understand what needs to happen.

You know, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I never noticed it being hot at any point this summer- to be honest though I have noticed it being cold since the weather has started to change. It does have the rubber rings around the top half, and that helps.

I like it better than the MGW "gripper" that I have (for sale if anyone's interested) because it's easier to get your fingers all the way around when you're shifting hard and fast.

Some people have said that the most difficult part is manipulating the various components through the hole from above and that dropping the driveshaft and doing it all from below takes half the time. What say you?

I would never drop my driveshaft unless it is absolutely necessary! It does help if you have someone topside handing parts through the tunnel.

I just posted that under another thread. The Steeda Triax instructions say to drop it...no way I am installing this myself if that is the case LOL
