Which Short throw shifter?
Obviously alot of them out there but is there alot of differences between them? It's on my list of future mods but have no idea on which one to go with. My car is my everyday driver and I do not plan on "racing" it (no track or strip).....yet.
Are there performance differences between them or is it more of a "feel" thing since I am not changing the tranny.
Thanks.

I would recommend the Pro5.0 shifter. I had the Saleen short-throw adaptor on the factory shifter previously, and it really shortened the throw but still felt notchy. I've driven a car with the Hurst shifter, and it felt just like my Saleen/factory setup. The Pro5.0 is smooth, quiet, and short. Also the Steeda TriAx is the same design as the Pro5.0.

I bought my Pro5.0 from Lightning Force Performance- it was a special they had for $245 delivered. They aren't doing it anymore, but be sure to check them out from time to time.

I have a steeda shifter (tri-ax) and it's definately a nice shifter.. but there is a little squeeking coming from the back where it mounts to the body... and it's getting annohing...
other than that it's a nice shifter.

Hurst here, pretty notchy, and almost feels like you have two stops. You can't speed shift really quick, and it will lock you out of third at WOT shifts, due the the engine/tranny being torqued out of line with the remote mounted shifter. Nothing a K member brace with torque limiters won't fix, but I wouldn't recommend the Hurst, unless you just have to have the name brand. I have the CHE K member brace with torque limiters on order, and if that doesn't fix the 2nd-3rd lockout at WOT, I'm dropping the Hurst like a bad habit.
Throws are DEFINITELY shorter though, just wish they weren't so notchy, and the lock out. And the Hurst shifter handle is a little taller, so it gets it up to were it's more comfortable for me.
Here's the 1st to 2nd throw:

Good stuff. Thanks for all the replys. The Steeda TriAxe is probably the way I will go, especially if I don't want to install it since they are right here.
Hatch...sedning you a PM.

me too
I'm also looking to upgrade my shifter.
Question - is there actually any difference in look/feel or operation of the Pro 5.0 vs Steeda Tri-Ax? or are they basically the same thing?
sounds like either would be fine, just want to understand if there are any differences.
thanks

But I have a question...once you install one the aftermarket shifters could the taller Hurst handle be swapped in? I wonder because I too would like a little taller handle.

I would also like to hear more about the Steeda vs the Pro 5.0. Personally I hate my Hurst shifter and would like to replace it, but not until next month.

I've heard the Roush piece is really notchy...... especially when shifting up- like into 3rd and into 5th. Again, that's just what I've heard I've never driven a car with it.
I think the Steeda and Pro50 are basically identical. They both have the billet arm, they both have shift stops, they are made from similar (identical?) materials all the way around. I do know the Pro50 has two height positiions, I don't know if the Steeda does or not. And supposedly, Steeda is the company that's accused Pro50 of stealing "their" design; however when you compare how they look to the stock shifter, you can see that they're both engineered to be much more solid in all the right areas. The Hurst by comparison looks just like the factory shifter IMO.
I have pictures comparing the stock to the Pro5.0. Someone PM me later and remind me to post them when I get home from work later today.

I got one of those from LFP just 4 weeks ago for a fabulous price. Call Mark or Jesse and see what they can do...
