For you guys that don't know Robert is from Michigan...You know the place they make you go thru the intersection about a half a block and make you do a "U" turn...come back to the intersection and than turn right rather than making a simple left turn. There are 49 states that you can make a simple left turn...guess it was to hard to teach them up there!! Good luck Robert.

Naw, make that 48 states, surface roads in Jersey are the same way, well at least last time I was there. and I'm interested in this thread as well.

Any word on a price for a set amount of units? Say, price for a 10 unit buy, or 20?

We understand that these shafts are expensive, we are constantly trying to get better pricing on the parts in order to keep the price down. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of our parts suppliers. There is no way we will be able to go anywhere as low as $450 on these 3.5 inch shafts. I would like to take this opportunity to discuss our end of the pricing on these shafts. If we were just interested in the bottom line, making as much as possible and as easy as possible, we would be pushing the 4 inch shaft with replacement flange. There is far less involved in shortening and rebalancing one of these Ranger shafts. Send the customer a replacement flange along with the shaft and let them worry about modifying their e-brake cable bracket, hump in the tunnel and whether they are going to have difficulty R&Ring the flange. Let them worry about whether their pinion bearing preload is adjusted properly. The 3.5 inch shaft is much more labor intensive because it is made from scratch. The adapters are made for us by a local tool and die shop that we have alot of faith in. We offer this alternative so our customers can do this mod and enjoy the benefits of it without any additional worries and expense. They cost more initially, but save labor costs doing modifications necessary with the 4 inch shaft. Our profit margin is the same on either shaft.

Dave,
The 3.5" shaft will give you the most clearance of any shaft on the market. Being lowered 2" in the rear we would still suggest you follow the installation notes.
Thanks, David

We believe the 4" will be OK. Keep in mind that we are trying to put together a group buy for the 3.5" and have no plans for a group buy on the 4". Also keep in mind that the 4" shaft does not feature .125 wall tubing and does not feature the 1350 series rear ujoint.
Thanks, David

I'll be watching this thread.
As an aside, I find it hard to choose a shaft vendor.
I've looked at you folks and Spyder, and also Brenspeed stocks a shaft too.
There are also products from some name brands.
So hard....to know....what to do....

Justin,
All we can hope to do is inform you of the features and benefits you will enjoy with our 3.5" shaft. Features and benefits not offered in any of our competitors 4" shafts or in any 3.5" tapering to 4" shaft. Our 3.5" shaft is made with .125 wall 6061-T6 tubing. Giving it a higher torque rating. Our 3.5" shaft also features a true 1350 series rear universal joint for no extra charge. Not a 1330-1350 conversion ujoint that you have to pay extra for. 1350 series ujoints are rated for 20% more torque than 1330 series. Our 3.5" shaft is just that, 3.5" diameter for the entire length of the shaft, there is no big bulge at the slip section like you get with a 3.5" tapering to 4" shaft. Also keep in mind that alot of the "name brands" are just reboxed from different suppliers, nothing wrong with this except for the price markup involved.
Thanks, David

We would like to know how many people are interested in a group buy and realistically what kind of discount you’d be looking for.

Thanks, David

p.s. Would members mind mentioning their preference for either adapter plate version or replacement pinion flange version?

$555
For a 3.5” shaft with 1350 series rear universal joint, .125 wall tubing with Pinion Flange

Members should know that we have done our best to bring the price of these shafts down for this group buy. However our aluminum supplier was not able to offer any savings. Our adapter supplier and pinion flange supplier (American Axle OEM Flange) were able to offer a slight savings. We have taken it upon ourselves to offer the rest of the markdown from our profit margin. Our accountant won’t like it, but he doesn’t drive a Mustang.

If you are interested please send us an email david@shaftmasters.com with your contact information and your preference of adapter plate or replacement pinion flange.
Please provide your forum username and which forum you are registered on.

Once we have a total of 25 orders we will contact you for payment and shipping information.

Current # of orders = 9

Looks like I missed out on this, I bought my Shaftmasters 3.5" DS Monday and installed it today. I'm very impressed with the overall quality of this DS. The install went smooth and my car was totally vibration free up to 90 mph. The Shaftmaters drive shafts are defiantly a good modification imo. I know everyone that gets in on this group buy will be happy as well.

Robert, I am a likely participant in this group buy, but first a few questions please:

#1 - How do I know which DS I need (adapter vs pinion flange)?
#2 - Can you speak to potential RWHP gains?
#3 - What are the average labor hours required for an install?

Let me know your thoughts please. I'm probably not the only one looking for these answers. Thanks!

1) its up to you really. The replacment pinion flange will require a little more labor. The pinion flange bolt are on very tight 250ft/lb+. David (Shaft Masters) can answer this question better and in more detail than I can.

2)It will allow more HP to the wheels as the engine wont have to spin up the extra 20+ pounds, so it will allow the engine to spin up faster.

3)maybe an hour at most to install if you take you time. Thats at a shop with a lift.
