Shaftmasters "group buy" Details posted

We are thinking of offering a “Group Buy” on 3.5” diameter aluminum shafts. So members will have something to spend their Tax Refund on, thus stimulating the economy.

We would like to know how many people are interested in a group buy and realistically what kind of discount you’d be looking for.

Thanks, David

p.s. Would members mind mentioning their preference for either adapter plate version or replacement pinion flange version?

Sounds good! Say! 10, 3.5'' shafts 350.00 shipped, probably wouldn't help your economy, but would do mine wonders!!....

At $350 we would be helping out anyone who sells red ink!
I like you Midwesterners, you have a great sense of humor. Tell Scott since he already bought a aluminum driveshaft for his car we are excluding him from this offer.(And the wrong one at that!)

Robert, I had to yank your chain a little bit! I think 70MACH1OWNER is spending most of his money on Geritol and Viagra these days, but I am interested in the group buy!

I'll also be keeping an eye on this thread to see how many times I can get bashed! Geez! I am happy with my shaft purchase. If Robert would have been more timely in introducing himself around here I would have considered a Shaftmasters shaft for sure! For you guys that don't know Robert is from Michigan...You know the place they make you go thru the intersection about a half a block and make you do a "U" turn...come back to the intersection and than turn right rather than making a simple left turn. There are 49 states that you can make a simple left turn...guess it was to hard to teach them up there!! Good luck Robert.

If you turned right, then left, would you be going east, then west OR north, then south?

Hi Scott,
That is why I told you that I spend more time vacationing in Ohio than in Michigan. It is less confusing and less costly on steering and suspension repairs by avoiding all the potholes in Michigan roads!

I'd be interested. I plan on buying one in the next month. If you could school us on the benefits of each (adapter version and replacement pinion flange), that'd be appreciated.

Count me in...now I have to go by an adjustable UCA. Which is better in the long run, adapter or flange?

Unless your planning on doing a ratio change in the near future we would recommend the adapter version. In our opinion to replace the pinion flange properly you need to gut the housing. There is a crush sleeve between the pinion bearings that along with the amount of torque on the pinion nut sets the amount of preload on the pinion bearings. It is sometimes difficult to draw the new pinion flange onto the pinion shaft without crushing the sleeve further thus placing too much preload on these bearing causing them to wear out prematurely. When doing a ratio change you have to gut the housing which would be the ideal time to change the pinion flange along with a new crush sleeve. Despite legend, when installed properly the adapter works fine. We have many satisfied customers to prove it. Also urban legend, we have never had to suggest to any of our lowered customers to purchase an adjustable upper control arm to adjust pinion angle in order to overcome a vibration problem! We developed our 3.5 inch shaft to provide our customers that are lowered with more clearance. There are reports of lowered stang owners having their 4 inch diameter shafts rubbing on a hump in the tunnel. Although these shafts come with installation instructions to prevent this, our 3.5 inch shaft doesn't require this extra effort along with the added benefit of it handling more torque.

That goes a long way in explaining the driving habits of Michigan snowbirds down here in sunny FLA.

Hey Robert, I'm in Mi. and am wondering if you do installs and if so what you charge on a 3.5 with adaptor plate?
