I have a set of melted pistons as well, from a turbo engine... <chuckle>

I also have a whole 351C setup [minus block] sitting in a garage in Upstate NY behind my "stored" 70 Torino GT [that's where the block is]. That car hasn't been registered since 1989 and only 500 miles on the engine... But I digress: I was young and stupid [the young part doesn't apply anymore] and broke the first block by putting the timing chain gear on backward and it sheared off the cam thrust plate bolts and edge of the block... <sigh>

Hey MIke,
Somethimes experience can be quite humbling can't it?? About the time I start to get cocky about what I have done to one of my cars I do something stupid. Than after I reflect on what I have done it makes sense and I feel experienced. Know what I mean??

Great info in your post! Any conclusions from their tests about what the true redline for these engines is? Since our engines basically have the Mach 1 rods and crank, the only thing keeping us from the 7,000rpm redline of the Mach is the valvetrain. Based on the limited experience everyone has with these heads so far, is seems like the 3-valve is a bit more rev happy than the 2-valves (they seemed to get pretty cranky at 6,500rpms). Do we know when valve float becomes an issue with our heads?

I am currently putting down 447 sae.
But running a little lean as i approach 6000rpm.
fuel pressure is constant at 50...Until 6000rpm then it drops to 41....
My A/f is good at 11.8 until 6000 rpm then it jumps up to 13.2 is the high, but this was done with very hot cats and a sniffer in the tailpipe...so it might not be totally accurate...

Are you kidding. We (well me anyway) live for this stuff. I blew my 427 Vette (69) the same way. Tossed in a race cam, added 4:11's and a set of 10" Mickey Thompsons. Was king of the Hill, for a while. (A very short while) Was young and dumb then. I too have a stall back up north. Got a 72 Mach sitting up there with a 351 Windsor. something to be said for 4 bolt mains. Did my 99 GT right and had a ball with her at the track. Now I'm regulated to this lil v-6. Adding a Pax soon. Shouldn/t take me long to go bang. Then my wife will let me get a real engine, to build right. From the bottom up.
